RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE FILIKG OF k~ APPLICATIOK WITH THE
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATIO~. UNITED STATES OF ~~ERICA. FOR
A GRANT UNDER THE URB.~ MASS TRANSPORTATION ACT OF 1964. ~S
A~ENDED
WHEREAS. the Secretary of Transportatlon lS authorized to make grants for mass
transportatlon proJects;
WHEREAS. the contract for financlal asslstance wlll lmpose certaln obllgatlons
upon the appllcant, inc1udlng the provlsion by it of the local share of pro-
Ject costs;
lffiEREAS, lt is required by the U. S. Department of Transportatlon in accord
wlth the provis1ons of Tltle VI of the C1Vll Rlghts Act of 1964, that in con-
nectlon with the flllng of an appllcatlon for asslstance under the Urban Mass
Transportatlon Act of 1964, as amended, the appllcant glves an assurance that
it wlll comply with Tlt1e VI of the C1V1I Rlghts Act of 1964 and the U. S.
Department of Transportatlon requlreNents thereunder; and
WHEREAS. lt is the goal of the appllcant that IDlnorlty bUSiness enterprises
be utlllzed to the fullest extent posslble In connection wlth thlS proJect.
and that definlte procedures shall be establlshed and adminlstered to ensure
that minority businesses shall have the maXlmum feaslble opportunlty to com-
pete for contracts when procuring the constructlon contracts. supp11es. equlp-
ment contracts. or consultant and other serVlces;
NOW, THEREFORE. BE IT RESOLVED by the City Councll of the City of Santa Monlca
as follows:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager is authorlzed to execute and fl1e an
appllcatlon on behalf of the Santa Monlca ~llinlcipal Bus Lines
wlth the U. S. Department of Transportat1on. to ald 1n the
financing of five new alr-cond1tioned dlese1 trans1t buses,
five reglsterlng fareboxes and flve two-way moblle radlos.
SECTION 2. That the C1ty Manager 1S author1zed to execute and f11e wlth
such appl1catlon an assurance or any other document required
by the U. S. Department of Transportat1on effectuating the
purpose of T1tle VI of the C1Vll Rights Act of 1964.
SECTION 3. That the City Manager lS author1zed to furnish such add1tional
1nformat1on as the U. S. Department of Transportation may re-
qUire in connect1on with the appllcatlon or the proJect.
SECTIOK 4. That the City Manager lS author1zed to set forth and execute
aff~rmat1ve m~nor1ty bus~ness policles 1n connection w1th the
proJect's procurement needs.
SECTION 5. That the City Manager 1S author1zed to execute grant contract
agreements on behalf of the Santa ~on1ca Mun1clpa1 Bus Lines
wlth the U. S. Department of Transportation for ald ln the
f~nancing of capital ass1stance proJects.
