A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA MONICA APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE
DIRECTOR OF FINANCE A~D THE DIRECTOR OF THE
REDEVELOPME~T AGENCY OF THE CITY OF SAXTA
MONICA TO DESTROY CERTAIN CITY RECORDS U~DER
THEIR CHARGE. PURSUA~T TO SECTION 34090 OF
THE GOVER~~ENT CODE OF CALIFORNIA.
WHEREAS, it has been determined that certain Clty records under
the charge of the following City Department(s) are no longer re-
qUlred for public or prlvate purposes;

REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY
and
WHEREAS, it has been determined that destruction of the above
mentioned materials is necessary to conserve storage space, and re-
duce staff time, expense and confusion in handling and informing the
public; and
WHEREAS, Section 34090 of the Government Code of the State of
California authorlzes that the City official having custody to des-
troy any City records and documents which are over two years old
under his or her charge, without making a copy thereof, after the
same lS no longer required, upon the approval of the City Councll by
resolution and the written consent of the Clty Attorney; and
WHEREAS, The City Clerk has been deslgnated as the official
custodian of records in the City of Santa Monica; and
WHEREAS, it is therefore desirable to destroy said records as
listed in Exhibit "AIT attached hereto and made a part hereof, in
storage, without making a copy thereof, which are over two years old;
and
WHEREAS, said records have been approved for destruction by the
Department Heads and City Attorney

NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That approval and authorization IS hereby given to
destroy those records described as Exhibit "A" attached hereto and
made a part hereof.
SECTION 2. That the City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this resolutIon, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in
full force and effect.
SECTIO~ 3. The CIty Clerk is authorized to allow examination by
and donation to the Santa Monica Historical Society records pendIng
destructIon as described herein, except those deemed confidentIal In
the oplnion of the City Attorney of said City.

The records lIsted below are at least fIve years old and have been
approved for destructIon by the CIty Attorney and by the department
heads having custody of the records pursuant to section 34090 of
the California Government Code.

Cancelled Warrants, 1957 to 1970, payroll statements 1961 to 1972

of the above records are on file in the office of the
