A RESOLUTIO~ OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
AUTHORIZING CERTAIN OF ITS MEMBERS TO FILE WRITTE~ ARGill1ENTS
REGARDING MEASURES TO BE PLACED O~ THE BALLOT FOR THE ELEC-
TION TO BE HELD APRIL 14, 1981.
WHEREAS. a regular general municIpal election is to be held in
the City of Santa MonIca. California, on AprIl 14. 1981, at WhICh
there WIll be submitted to the qualified electors of said City two
measures relating to crime control;
NOW THEREFORE THE CITY COU~CIL does hereby resolve. declare.
determine and order as follows:
SECTION 1: That this CIty Council, being the legislatIve body
of the City of Santa Monica, hereby authorizes the follOWIng Council-
members to file wrItten arguments as follows:
In regard to the measure relatIng to MAJOR CRIME CONTROL AND
TAX REDUCTION (petitIon submitted by S~~C), Councllrnembers
Yannatta Goldway, Rhoden and Scott are authorized to write
the argument in oPPOSItion.
In regard to the measure relating to POLICE AND PROTECTIVE
SERVICES (submitted by Counci1member JennIngs), Counci1members
Bambrick, Yannatta Goldway, JennIngs and Reed are authorized
to write the argument In favor and Councllmember Scott author-
ized to write the argument In opposition.
WrItten arguments, not to exceed 300 words in length, are to be
filed with the City Clerk by 5:00 P.M., Friday. January 23, 1981, as
set forth in State Elections Code Sections 5010 et. seq., said argu-
ments may be changed by the authors until and including the date fixed
by the City Clerk after which no arguments for or against may be sub-
mItted.
