A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA MONICA WAIVING COMPE7ITIVE BID
PROCEDURE AND AUTHORIZING DIRECT NEGOTIATION
FOR PURCHASE OF A SLUICE GATE VALVE
WHEREAS, timely replacement of the sluice gate valve at Moss Avenue
pumping Plant is necessary to implement the schedule pump replacement
project; and
WHEREAS, one (1) manufacturer is known to have design prints on
hand that will insure interface with existing cast-in-place flanges; and
WHEREAS, to soli~it bids for this valve would entail expense with
no assurance of cost benefit and delay that could jeopardize the ac-
complishment of related critical projects.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: That the City Council finds that the need exists for
timely replacement of a sluice gate valve.
SECTION 2. That one (1) manufacturer is known to have on hand
design prints for a valve that will interface with existing cast-in-
p lace flanges.
SECTION 3. That to call for bids would entail expense and delay
with no assurance of tangible benefit.
SECTION 4: That the City Manager is authorized to negotiate
directly for this sluice gate valve without calling for bids.
