A RESOLUTIOX OF THE CITY COU~CIL
OF THE CITY OF SA~TA ~O~ICA ENDO~SING
SB 92 EXTENDING SPECIAL CONSUHER
PROTECTION REGARDDIG ITEH PRICING
WHEREAS, after years of discussion and study, the
Californ1a legislature has enacted into law a spec1al consumer
protec tlon called "1 tern prlclng, 11 and
WHEREAS, this law protects Californla consumers who
shop in automated checkout stores by requlring readable prices
ln Arabic numbers on packages and cans, and
WHEREAS, studles in thlS and other states have shown
that consumers desire and need this protection when shopping in
such stores, and
~HEREAS, Senate Bill 92 ln the current legislature will
extend this protection beyond the current law's expiration in
January, 1980,
THEREFORE, BE IT RFSOLVED THAT the Santa Bonica Clty
Council be placed on record as belng in support of SB 92 and in
urglng all legislators from this area to support this inportant
consumer protective measure.
The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of thlS
resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in
full force and effect.
