A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
!\lONICA IN LOS A.l.'lGELES COUNTY TO RECOGNIZE TIlE LOS
ANGELES REGIONAL CRIMINAL JUSTICE PLANNING BOARD AS
THE COUNTY REGIONAL CRIMINAL JUSTICE PLANNING k~D
COORDINATING BODY FOR CRIMINAL JUSTICE.
WHEREAS, the Presldentls Crime COmffilssion of 1967 recognized the urgent
need for national comprehensive criminal Justice plann~ng; and
l~EREAS, the Omnlbus Crlme Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 provided
a natlonal strategy to address the documented problems in the administration of
Justice; and
hBEREAS, the Crlme Control Act of 1973 was enacted by Congress to contlnue
the efforts of the 1968 Act; and
IVHEREAS, pursuant to provisions of Assembly Bill 1306 the California
Council on Crlminal Justice was establ~shed as the State Crimlnal Justice
Plann~ng Agency to further the comprehensiveness of crimlnal Justice plannlng
in Californla, and the Governor signed sald bl11 lnto law on 2 October 1973 in
furtherance of these national and state crlme control goals; and
~~REAS, the Omnlbus Crlme Control and Safe Streets leglslation has
provlded that forty percent of planning money must be dlstributed to local
governments or comb1nations of unlts of local government; and
WHEREAS, the City recognlzes the need for efficient use of crimlnal Justice
resources and the concurrent necesslty of coordlnating state and federal actlon
funds; and
\VHEREAS, the California Council on Crlminal Justice has established

Los Angeles County as a separate region, effective 1 July 1971. and
the CalIfornIa Legislature has recognIzed each county as a plannIng
district by passage of saId Assembly Bill 1306. effective 2 October 1973;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF 11-13 CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES
RESOL\~ AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the L05 Angeles Regional CrimInal Justice Planning
Board be recognIzed as the Los Angeles County regional planning and
coordInating body for criminal JustIce grant purposes.
SECTION 2. That the City Clerk shall cert~fy to the adoption of this
resolutIon. and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in full force
and effect.
