A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA COMMENDING NATHANIEL TRIVES FOR HIS DEDICATED
AND DISTINGUISHED SERVICE TO THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
WHEREAS, NATHANIEL TRI\~S was f~rst elected to the Santa Monica C~ty
Counc~l ~n 1971 for a four-year te~, and reelected ~n 1975 for a second term,
each t~me rece~v~ng the highest vote among the cand~dates, and
WHEREAS, NA~~IEL TRlVES was chosen to serve as ~ayor, 1975-1977 and
Mayor Pro Tempore ~n 1973-1975, and
WHEREAS, durlng h~s e~ght years as a Member of the C~ty Counc~l, he has
contr~buted ~n a posltlve fashlon to the affa~rs of the eommun~ty and has worked
d~l~gently to encourage full commun~ty partic~pat~on ~n local qovernment, and
,~REAS, NATHANIEL TRIVES has spent many addit~onal hours of cOMmun~ty
serv~ce as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Crossroads School; the Salvat~on
Army; Nat~onal Conference of Chrlst~ans and Jews, Santa Monlea Chapter; Amer~can
Red Cross; Boys Club of Santa Mon~ca; Board of D~rectors of the Santa Monlca sister
C~ty Associatlon; and Santa Monlca Rotary Club, and
WHEREAS, NATHANIEL TRIVES has represented the City as Chairperson of
the PubllC Safety Commlttee, Callfornla League of Citles; member of the Callfornla
Counc~l of Crim~nal Justlce, Futures Comm~ttee, of the League of Callfornla Citles;
member of the Executlve COmIDlttee of SCAG; and member of the Board of Dlreetors,
Los Angeles Reglonal Crlmlnal Justlce Plannlng Board, and
WHEREAS, NATHANIEL TRIVES has chosen not to seek reelect10n and lS
retlrlng from publlC offlce;
NOW, THEREFORE, The Clty Councll of the Clty of Santa Monica does resolve
as follows:
SECTION 1. NATHANIEL TRIVES lS hereby commended for his years of fa1thful
serV1ce and dedlcatlon to the City of Santa MOnlCa and ltS cltizens.
SECTION 2. The City Council of the C1ty of Santa ~onlca, on behalf of
1tself and on behalf of the c~tlzens of this cornmunlty, expresses its profound
appreclatlon to NATHANIEL TRIVES for his unselfish and productlve community servlce~
SECTION 3. The Clty Clerk 15 dlrected to send a certifled copy of this
resolutlon to NATHANIEL TRlVES.

resolut~on and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be 1n full force and
effect.
