A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA MONICA WAIVING COMPETITIVE
BID PROCEDURE A~~ AUTHORIZING DIRECT
NEGOTIATION FOR SPECIALI7ED TRANSIT BUS
SERVICE EQUIPMENT
~~EREAS, the scheduled delivery of forty-two (42) transit busses
has created the need for specialized equipment to safely and expeditiously
service these vehicles; and
WHEREAS, only one (1) manufacturer is known to supply this
equipment, and
WHEREAS, a call for bids would entail expense and delay with no
assurance of benefit to the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COllliCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the City Council finds that the need exists for
specialized transit bus service equipment.
SECTION 2. That, in the absence of known competition, a call
for bids would entail expense and delay with no assurance of benefit.
SECTION 3. That formal bid procedure for acquisition of this
equipnent is waived.
SECTION 4. That the City Manager, City of Santa Monica, is
authorized to negotiate directly for this purchase.
