RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF AN APPLICATION WITH THE
DEPAR1}1ENT OF TRfu~SPORTATION, UKITED STATES OF A~ERICA, FOR A
GRANT U~DER THE URBfu~ ~~SS TRANSPORTATION ACT OF 1964, AS A}lliNDED
WHEREAS, the Secretary of Transportat~on ~s author~zed to make grants for
mass transportation proJects;
~~REAS, the contract for f~nancial ass~stance w~ll impose certa~n ob1~-
gations upon the appl~cant, includ~ng the provision by it of the local
share of proJect costs;
WHEREAS, ~t is requ~red by the U S. Department of Transportat1on in
accord w1th the prov1s~ons of T~tle VI of the C1V1l Rights Act of 1964,
that ~n connect~on with the fi1~ng of an app1~cation for ass~stance under
the Urban Mass Transportat~on Act of 1964, as amended, the App11cant glve
an assurance that ~t w~ll comply wlth Tlt1e VI of the C1Vll Rights Act of
1964 and the U. S. Department of Transportation requlrements thereunder; and
WHEREAS, it is the goal of the App11cant that m~nor~ty business enterpr~se
be ut1llzed to the fullest extent posslble 1n connection wlth th~s project,
and that def1n~te procedures shall be estab1~shed and adminlstered to
ensure that minorlty bus~nesses shall have the max1mum feaslble opportun~ty
to compete for contracts when procuring construct1on contracts, supp1~es,
equlpment contracts, or consultant and other services;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Counc~l of the Clty of Santa
Monica as follows:
SECTIOK 1. That the City Manager 1S authorized to execute and flle an
app11cat~on on behalf of the Santa Mon1ca Mun1c~pal Bus Llnes
w1th the U. S. Department of Transportatlon, to a~d ln the
f~nancing of 2.1 acres of land.
SECTION 2. That the City Manager 1S authorized to execute and flle w~th
such applicat~on an assurance or any other document requ~red
by the U. S. Department of Transportation effectuatlng the
purposes of Tlt1e VI of the C~v~l Rlghts Act of 1964
SECTION 3. That the C1ty Manager 1S author~zed to furn~sh such addit~onal
~nforrnation as the U. S. Department of Transportatlon may
require in connection WIth the appllcation or the proJect.
SECTION 4. That the CIty Manager is authorized to set forth and execute
affirmat~ve mlnor~ty bUSlness pol1cies In connection wlth the
proJect's procurement needs.
