RESOLUTION NO. 5115

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA MONICA FINDING THAT THE PUBLIC NECESSITY,
HEALTH, SAFETY AND WELFARE REQUIRES WITHIN A
CERTAIN DESIGNATED AREA, THE UNDERGROUND INSTAL-
LATION OF WIRES AND FACILITIES SUPPLYING ELECTRIC
COMMUNCIATION OR SIMILAR OR ASSOCIATED SERVICES ON
COLORADO AVENUE BETWEEN LINCOLN BLVD. AND YALE
STREET, AND DESIGNATING SUCH CERTAIN AREA AN
UNDERGROUND UTILITY DISTRICT, AND ORDERING THE
REMOVAL OF POLES, OVERHEAD WIRES AND ASSOCIATED
OVERHEAD STRUCTURES WITHIN SUCH DISTRICT AND THE
UNDERGROUND INSTALLATION OF SUCH WIRES AND FACILITIES.
WHEREAS, a public hearing has been duly and regularly
held pursuant to Resolutlon No. 5098 (City Council Series),
Ord~nance. No. 773 (City Council Series) and the laws and
constltution of the State of California on the proposed improve-
ment of Colorado Avenue between Lincoln Blvd, and Yale Street
by undergroundlng of utilities and appurtenant work thereto as
described In Resolution ~o. 5098 (City Council Serles); and
WHEREAS. said 1mprovement has been consldered fully,
NOW, THEREFORE. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SA~TA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The C~ty Council hereby finds the public
necessity, health, safety and welfare requires the above described
improvement in such des1gnated area.
SECTION 2. Colorado Avenue between Lincoln Blvd. and Yale
Street, together wlth ~he property abutting on Colorado Avenue, is
hereby declared to be an underground utility district as provided
by Ordinance No. 773 (City Counell Series) and for further partlc-
ulars reference 1S made to Resolut1on No. 5098 (Clty Council Series).

SECTION 3. The City Council hereby orders the removal
of all poles, overhead distribution and 66 KV transmission wires
and associated overhead structures (except some communciation
overhead Wlres crossing Colorado Avenue) from within the designated
underground ut11ity district and the underground instal1atlon
therein of all wires and facilities required for supplY1ng electric,
communicat1on, or slmi1ar or assoclated service.
SECTION 4. The City Council hereby fixes December 1, 1985,
as the date withln which such removal and underground installation
shall be accomplished; and Aprll I, 1985 as the date within which
the underground installation shall be completed on all prlvate
property affected by this underground dlstrict.
SECTION 5. Upon the effective date of this resolution,
the Clty Clerk 1S dlrected to forthwith comply with the provlsions
of Section 7906 of the Santa Monica Municlpa1 Code.
SECTION 6. The City Clerk shall certlfy to the adoption
of this resolution and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall
be in full force and effect.
