A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA MONICA WAIVING FOR~L BID PROCEDURE
AND AUTHORIZING DIRECT NEGOTIATION FOR BUILD-
ING DEMOLITION AND SITE CLEARANCE
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Monica has aquired real estate
at Seventh Street and Olympic Boulevard, and
WHEREAS, there is an urgent need to clear this area to
provide bus parking space; and
WHEREAS, the existing buildings now constitute a nuisance
and a hazard to public safety, and
WHEREAS, All known demolition contractors have been invited
to submit proposals to remove the buildings and prepare the site
for bus parking.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS.
SECTION 1
That the City Council finds that immediate
requirement exists to clear this property.
SECTION 2. That timely action is desired to eliminate a
nuisance and hazard to public safety at the least cost to the City.
SECTION 3
That to advertise formally for bids would
entail unecessary expense and delay with no assurance of savings.
SECTION 4. That the informal solicitation sent to
contractors has satisfied the intent of City charter and municipal
code requirements for competitive bidding and that formal bidding
procedure is waived in this instance
SECTION S. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to
negotiate directly for building demolition and site clearance on
city-owned property located at Seventh Street and Olympic Boulevard.

SECTION 6. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall
be in full force and effect.
