A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA BONICA AMENDING
PROPOSITION liB", CONCERNING THE
CREATION OF THE CO~~1UNITY COLLEGE
GOVERNING BOARD, TO BE 8U~MITTED TO
THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS AT THE ELECTION
ON THE 10TH DAY OF APRIL, 1979.
WHEREAS, modifications In the title and text of the
suggested amendment to Article IX, SectIon 900 et. seq. known
as ProposItion "B" have been recommended.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the CIty of
Santa ~onica does hereby resolve as follows:
SECTION 1.

Proposition liB" relatIve to the establishment of a
separate board of trustees for the Santa ~fonica CommunI ty
College DistrIct, shall be amended to be entitled "Establishment
of Separate Board for Santa Monica CommunIty College DistrIct.1t
The text shall be amended to read. ..."Santa Monica Unified
School DIstrIct. ...instead of 11... . Santa Monica School DistrIct.. ..f!
SECTION 2. Upon the ballots to be used at the election
on the 10th day of April. 1979, there shnuld be printed substan-
tIally the followIng:

DISTRICT.
Shall the Charter of the CIty of Santa Monica be
amended to provide for a new, separate governing YES

of haVing the same governing board for both the
Santa MonIca UnIfied School Distri<t and tne ~O

January 1955 when he Joined the Chamber staff as Assistant
Manager, movlng shortly thereafter into the position of
Executlve Vlce President and Manager, and
~ffiEREAS, durlng hlS tenure of offlce, the Santa Monlca Chamber
prospered and achleved natlonal recognltlon, becomlnq one
of the flrst In the State of Cal1fornla to be accredlted
by the United States Cha~er of Commerce and the second
In the State to establlsh a Buslness Improvement Assessment
Dlstrlct, and
~mEREAS, Mr. Porter was the flrst reclplent of the Russell E. Pettlt
Award In recognltlon of hlS assistance and encouragement
to new people ln the fleld of Chamber Managewent; he
served as Presldent of the Southern Callfornla Chamber
Executlves, the Callfornla State Chamber of Co~~erce
Executlves and as a Dlrector of the Amerlcan Chamber of
Conmerce ExecutlveS Assoclatlon, and
