A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA ESTABLISf;IING
ANIMAL CONTROL FEES AND CHARGES.
WHEREAS, heretofore, Seetl.ons 4122 and 4123 of the
Santa Monlca Municlpal Code set forth a fee schedule for the
impoundment, disposal, and-boardlng of animals at the Animal
Control Centerj and
WHEREAS, the expenses lnvolved J..n the impounding,
disposal, and boarding of anJ..mals vary; .and
WHEREAS, the system currently in use does not

adequately offset the expenses involvedj and
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 1112 (City Council Series)
of the Santa Monica Munlclpal Code authorlzes the Clty Council
to establlsh by resolutlon fees and charges for the handling
of animals at the Animal Center:
NOW # THEREFORE~ the City Council of the City of
Santa Monica does resolve as follows:
SECTION 1. There wl1l be a three dbllar ($3.0Q)
vacejnatJ..on fee to all persons ~uYJ..ng a vaccinated animal from
the sheltarj a placement fee of ten dollars ($ID.OO) plus sales
tax ~or ~cgs and five d~llar$ {$5.001 plus sales tax for cats

SECTION 2. The eXlstlng schedule of fees and charges
for the impoundlng, disposal, and boardlng of anlmals is adopted
with the fOllowing exceptlons: the charges for a first violation of Santa
Monlca Munlcipal Code Sectlons 4114 (anlmals at large), 4115
(doos in restrlcted areas), and 4136 (dogs cOffimltting nUlsances) are
to be twenty-flve dollars ($25.00), thlrty-flve dollars ($35.00)
for the second offense, and flfty dollars ($50.00) for the thlrd
offense.
