RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA CERTIFYING
THE FINAL SUPPLEMENTAL ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT REPORT ON
THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE SANTA MONICA BAY INN PROJECT
WHEREAS, the CIty Planning Commlssion certIfIed a FInal
Environmental Impact Report and approved Development ReVIew 098
for a four-story, 299-room hotel at 1700 Ocean Avenue on
June 20, 1985; and
WHEREAS, on November 12, 1984, Development ReVIew 291, an
applIcatIon to amend Development Review 098 was submitted; and
WHEREAS, NotIce of CompletIon of a Draft Supplemental
Environmental Impact Report was publIshed on February 13, 1985,
In compliance wlth the Cal1fornla EnVIronmental Quality Act~ and
WHEREAS, a publIC review per10d expired on March 21, 1985~
and
WHEREAS, on March 26, 1985, the completIon of the FInal
Supplemental Envlronmental Impact Report on the proposed project,
cons1stlng of the Draft Supplemental EnVIronmental Impact Report,

comments on the document, and responses to comments was
certlfled; and
WHEREAS, on April 15, 1985, the Clty PlannIng Commlssion
conducted a du ly notIced public hearlng on the Flnal
Supplemental EIR and the proposed proJect; and
WHEREAS, by faIlure to adopt a motlon on the matter the
Plannlng CommISSIon denIed the proJect wIthout preJudIce; and
WHEREAS, on Aprll l6, 1985, the Planning Commisslon's actIon
was appealed to the City Councll; and
WHEREAS, on May 21, 1985, the City Councll conducted a
publlCly noticed hearIng on the Flnal Supplemental EnVlronmenta1
Impact Report and the proposed proJect.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The CIty CouncIl of the CIty of Santa MonIca
does hereby certIfy that the Flnal Supplemental Environmental
Impact Report on the proposed Redevelopment of the Santa MonIca
Bay Inn property (Development ReVIew 291 and Z.A. 4880-A) has
been completed In full complIance wIth the Californla
EnvIronmental Quallty Act, the State EnvIronmental Impact Report
,
GUIdellnes, and the CIty of Santa Monlca CEQA GUldelines, and
that It has revlewed and consldered the contents of the Flnal
Supplemental ErR In ItS declSlon-maklng process.

SECTION 2. The CIty Clerk shall cert~fy the adoption of
thIS Resolut~on, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
