A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA PROCLAIMING THE
CONTINUED EXISTENCE OF THE LOCAL EMERGENCY

WHEREAS, MunIcIpal Code SectIon 230S authorIzes the
DIrector of Emergency ServIces to proclaIm the eXIstence or
threatened eXIstence of a local emergency when the CIty of Santa
MonIca 15 affected or lIkely to be affected by a pub 11 c calamIty
and the C It Y Coune 1 1 IS not In 5e5sIon; and
WHEREAS, commenCIng on January 27, 1983, condItIons of
extreme perIl to the safety of persons and property have arIsen
wIthIn the CIty of Santa MonIca caused by storm, hIgh tIdes, and
heavy surf; and
WHEREAS, the Cl ty Coune 1 1 was not In 5eSSIon on January 27,
1983; and
WHEREAS, on January 27, 1983. the DIrector of Emergency
SerVIces of the CI ty of Santa MonIca dId proclaIm the eXIstence
of a local emergency WIthIn the C1 ty of Santa MonIca; and
WHEREAS, on February 1 , 1983, the CIty CounCIl adopted
ResolutIon Number 6621 CCCS), ratIfYIng} confIrmIng} and
apprOVIng, the proclamatIon of local emergency by the Director of
Emergency SerVIces; and

WHEREAS, commenc1ng on Marc.h 1 , 1983 , cond1tlons of extreme

WHEREAS, the Clty Councll was not In seSSlon at the t Ime of

WHEREAS, on March 1, 1983, the DIrector of Emergency
SerVIces of the Clty of Santa Monlca dld proclaIm the eXIstence
of a local emergency within the Clty of Santa Mon1ca; and
WHEREAS, on March 8, 1983, the C1 ty Co I...In c 11 adopted
ResolutIon Number 6642 ( CCS ) , ratIfYIng, confIrmIng, and
approv1ng, the proclamatIon of local emergency by the D1rector of
Emergency Servlces; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code Sectlon 8630, the Cl ty
Counc11 has revlf'lwed the need to contInue the local emergency,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The local emergency as proclaimed by the
Director of Emergency SerVIces on January 27, 198" shall be
deemed to contInue to eX15t 1n the C1 ty of Santa Monica untIl Its
termInatlon 15 proclaimed by the CIty Counc11 of the City of
Santa Monlca.
SECTION 2. The local emergency as pr-oclalmed by the
Dlrector of Emergency SerVlces on March 1 . 1983, sh~ 1 1 be deemed
to contInue to eXIst 1n the City of Santa Monica un t 1 1 1 t s-
termInatIon IS proclaimed by the Cl ty Counc 11 of the City of
Santa Monica.

SECTION 3. The C1ty Clerk sha 11 certIfy to the adopt1on of
this Resolutlon, and thenceforth and thereafter the ~ame shall be
