RESOLUTION NO. 7045(CCS}

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA MONICA ADOPTING EMERGENCY SHELTER
GUIDELINES OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA
WHEREAS, Governor Deukmejian signed Assembly Bill 2579
into law on September 30, 1984; and
WHEREAS, The purpose of AB 2579 is to address the spe-
cial housing needs of homeless persons and families living in the
State of California by providing guidelines and funding for emer-
gency shelters for the State's homeless; and
WHEREAS, The State of California's Emergency Shelter
Guidelines shall assure that the public health, safety, and wel-
fare is protected while recognizing the temporary nature of these
facilities and the urgent need for their construction; and
WHEREAS, Section 50807(c) of the Health and Safety Code
states that the Department of Housing and Community Development
may provide priority funding for emergency shelters in those

jurisdictions that adopt the guidelines established by the
Department:
NOW THEREFORE I THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION l. That the Emergency Shelter Guidelines, a
copy of which is attached hereto, are hereby approved and adop-
ted.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adop-
tion of this resolution and thenceforth and thereafter the same
shall be in full force and effect.
