A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA MONICA APPROVING
APPLICATION FOR FUNDS UNDER THE
CALIFORNIA SENIOR CENTER BOND ACT OF
lq84 FOR A MULTI-SERVICE CENTER
WHEREAS, the people of the State of CalIfornla have
approved the SE'nIOr Center Rond Act of 1984, WhICh provIdes
funds to publIC and prIvate non-profIt agencles for the
purpose of acgu1rIng) constructIng) alterIng, or renovatIng
SE"n10r center<; and purchaslng equlpment or fundlng startup
costs for senIor C"entersj and
WHEREAS) the Callfornla Department of Ag1ng hao;; been
delegated the responsIbIlIty for the admlnlstratlon of the
program, settIng up necessary procedures govern1ng
appllcat10ns by publIC and non-profIt groups under thE"
programj and
WHEREAS, saId procedures established by the Cal1fornla
Department of AgIng reqUIre the applIcant to certIfy by
resolut.1on the approval of appl1.CatIons prIor to submission of
saId applIcat10ns to the State; and
WHEREAS, the proJect applied for under thlS program must
be of a hIgh prlorlty and sat1sfy the most urge-nt needs WIth

prIorIty on unmet senIor center needs from rural} low Income
and racIal or ethnIC minorIty area~j and
WHEREAS, the CIty CouncIl of the CI ty ot Santa MonIca
(hereInafter the "CIty") IS authorIzed to apply to the
CalIfornIa DE"partment of AgIng for fundlng under the
Call.fornIa S..-nlor Center Bond Act of 1984j and
WHEREAS, the CIty of Santa MonIca, a 10c-al publIC agency
organIzed under the ConstItutIon and statutes of the State of
CalIfornIa} IS elIgIblE" to receIve fundsj and
WHEREAS, the California Department of AgIng may award
the CIty of Santa MonIca a condItIonal fundIng commItment
under the CalIfornIa Sen1.0r Center Bond Act of 1984,
NOW, THEREFORE} THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS;
SECTION 1. The CIty of Santa MonIca hereby approves the
fIlIng of an applIcatIon for fundIng under the SenIor Center
Bond Act of lQ84.
SECTION 2 The CIty of Santa MonIca hereby certIfies
that the multI-servlce center WIll be avaIlable for use by all
senIor CItIzens.
SECTION 3. The CIty of Santa MonIca hereby certIfies
that saId agency has or WIll have suffICIent funds or ather
resources to operate and maIntal.n the senior center funded
under th1s program.
SECTION 4. The CIty of Santa Monlca hereby certlfies
that saId agency has or WIll have avaIlable prIor to

commenCE'm~nt of any work on the pro)ectfsl; matchIng money
from a non-federal or non-state source.
SECTION 5. The CIty of Santa Mon1ca hereby certlf"les
that s8\d agency w1.11 comply w1.th all federal, state, and
local envIronmental, publIC health, r~locatIon} afflrmatIve
actlon, and clearInghouse requIrement.,; and all other
approprIate codes} laws} and regulatlons applIcable to the
proJect.
SECTION 6. The CIty of Santa Monica hereby certIfIes
that the proJect(s) Included In this applIcatIon conform to
the Area Plan on AgIng for the PlannIng and SerVIce Area In
whIch the senIor center IS loC"atE"d.
SECTION 7. The Clty Manager or an authorIzed desIgnee
IS hereby authorIzed to conduct all n~gotlatIons} execute and
submIt all documents IncludIng} but not 1 Irol-ted to}
appllcatIons, aqre.:>ments} amE'ndme>nts} payment requests} and
reports} WhICh may be neces<:;ary for completIon of the
aforementloned pro]e<-~t .
SECTION 8. The City Clerk shall certIfy to th~ adoptIon
of this Resolutl.on} and thenceforth and thereafter the same
shall b~ 1n full force and eff~ct.
