A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA PROCLAIMING THE
CONTINUED EXISTENCE OF THE LOCAL EMERGENCY
WHEREAS, MuniCipal Code Section 230<; authorizes the
Director of Emergency Services to proclaim the eXistence or
threatened eXistence of a lOCi'll emergency wnpn the CI ty of Santa
Monlcl!l 15 aFfected or likely to be affected by a public c<!lll'lml ty
and the City Council 15 not In session; and
WHEREAS, commencing on January 27, 1983, conditions of
extreme pe 1"11 to the sl'lfety of persons and property have arisen
WI th In the CI ty of Santa Monica caused by storm, high tides, and
heavy surf; and
WHEREAS, the City CounCil WFl5 not In session on January 27,
1983; and
WHEREAS, on January 27, 1983, the Director of Emergency
Services of the City of Santa Monica did procla1rn the eXistence
of a local emergency Within the City of Santa Monica; end
I,.!HEREAS, on February 1, 1983, the CI ty Counc II adopted
ResolutIon Number- 6621 (CCS), rat I f~.Ilng, conflrmlng, and
approving, the proclamatIon ot' local emergency by the Director of
Emergency ServIces; and

WHEREAS, commencing on March 1, 1983, condltlons of extr-eme
peril to the si!!fety of persons and property have arisen wlthln
the CI ty of Santi!! Monica caused by storm, hIgh tIdes, and heavy
surf; and
WHI:REAS, the CIty CouncIl was not In 5eS510n at the tlml" of
condltlons giving rise to the emergency; and
WHEREAS, on March 1, 1983, the Director of Emergency
ServIces of the CI ty of Santa Monica did proclaIm the eXistence
or a local emergency WithIn the CI ty of Santa MonIca; and
WHEREAS, on March 8, 1983, the CI ty CounCil adopted
Resolutlon Number 6647 (eCS) , ratifYIng, confIrmIng, and
apprOVIng, the proclamatlon of 10c<l1 emergency by the Director of
Emergency ServlcesF and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code Section 8630, the CI ty
CounCil has reVIewed the need to continue the local emergency,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLlJE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The local emergency as proclaimed by the
