CA:RMM:rmr009 City Council Meeting 2-11-86 Santa Monica, California RESOLUTION NUMBER 7156(CCS) (City Council Series) A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA PROCLAIMING THE CONTINUED EXISTENCE OF THE LOCAL EMERGENCY WHEREAS, Municipal Code Section 2305 authorizes the Director of Emergency Services to proclaim the eXIstence or threatened eXistence of a local emergency when the City of Santa Monica is affected or likely to be affected by a public calamity and the City COuncil is not In session; and WHEREAS, commencing on January 27, 19&3, conditions of extreme perIl to the safety of persons and property have a~lsen withIn the CIty of Santa MonIca caused by storm, high tides, and heavy surf; and WHEREAS, the City CounCil was not In session on January 27, 1963; and WHEREAS, on January 27, 1983, the Director of Emergency Services of the CIty of Santa Monica dId proclaim the eXIstence of a local emergency withIn the City of Santa MonIca; and WHEREAS, on February 1, 1983, the City CounCil adopted Resolution Number 6621 (ces), ratifYIng, confirming, and approving, the proclamatIon of local emergency by the DIrector of Emergency Services; and 1 . . WHEREAS, commenclng on March 1, 1983, conditlons of extreme perll to the safety of persons and property have arlsen within the City of Santa Monica caused by storm, hlgh tides, and heavy surf; and WHEREAS, the City Councll was not in seSSlon at the time of condltlons glvlng rise to the emergency; and WHEREAS, on March 1, 1983, the Director of Emergency Servlces of the City of Santa Monlca did proclaim the existence of a local emergency within the City of Santa Monica; and WHEREAS, on March 8, 1983, the City Council adopted Resolution Number 6642 (CCS), ratlfYlng, confirming, and approvlng, the proclamation of local emergency by the Director of Emergency Servlces; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code Sectlon 8630, the City Council has reviewed the need to continue the local emergency, NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. The local emergency as proclaimed by the Director of Emergency SerVlces on January 27, 1983, shall be deemed to continue to eXlst In the Clty of Santa Monica until ItS termination IS proclalmed by the City Councll of the City of Santa Monica. SECTION 2. The local emergency as proclaimed by the Director of Emergency Services on March 1, 1983, shall be deemed to continue to eXlst in the Clty of Santa Monica until its termlnation is proclaimed by the Clty Council of the Clty of Santa Monica. 2 . .
