A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA PROCLAIMING THE
CONTINUED EXISTENCE OF THE LOCAL EMERGENCY
WHEREAS,

Code Section 2305 authorizes the
Director of Emergency Services to proclaim the existence or
threatened exr.stence of a local emergency when the City of Santa
Monica r.s affected or likely to be affected by a public calamity
and the City Council is not in session; and
WHEREAS, commencing on January 27, 1983, conditions of
extreme peril to the safety of persons and property have arisen
within the Cr.ty of Santa Monica caused by storm, high tides, and
heavy surf; and
WHEREAS, the City Council was not in session on January 27,
1983; and
WHEREAS, on January 27, 1983, the Director of Emergency
Services of the City of Santa Monica did proclar.m the existence
of a local emergency within the City of Santa Monica; and
WHEREAS, on February 1,
1983, the City Councr.l adopted

WHEREAS, commencing on March 1, 1983, conditions of extreme

WHEREAS, on March 1, 1983, the Director of Emergency
Servr.ces of the eity of Santa Monica did proclaim the existence
of a local emergency within the City of Santa Monica; and
WHEREAS, on March 8, 1983, the City Council adopted
Resolution Number 664~ (ces), ratifying, confirming, and
approvr.ng, the proclamatr.on of local emergency by the Director of
Emergency Services; and
HHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code Section 8630, the City
Council has revr.ewed the need to continue the local emergency,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The local emergency as proclar.med by the
Dr.rector of Emergency Services on January 27,
1983, shall be
deemed to contr.nue to exist in the city of Santa Monica untr.l its
ter~inatr.on is proclaimed by the City Council of the City of
Santa Monr.ca.
SECTION 2. The local emergency as proclaimed by the
Director of Emergency Services on March 1, 1983, shall be deemed
to continue to exist in the City of Santa Monica until its
terminatr.on is proclaimed by the Clty Council of the City of
Santa Monica.

SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoptr.on of
this Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
in full force and effect.
