A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA PROCLAIMING THE
CONTINllED EXISTENCE OF THE LOCAL EMERGENCY
WHEREAS,

Code Sectr.on 2305 authorizes the
Dr.rector of Emergency Services to proclar.m the exr.stence or
threatened existence of a local emergency when the City of Santa
Monr.ca lS affected or likely to be affected by a publr.c calamity
and the City Councr.l r.s not ln session; and
WHEREAS, commencing on January 27, 1983,
condr.tions of
extreme peril to the safety of persons and property have arisen
within the City of Santa Monr.ca caused by storn, high tides, and
heavy surf; and
WHEREAS, the City Council was not r.n session on January 27,
1983; and
WHEREAS, on January 27, 1983, the Director of Errterqency
Services of the City of Santa Monlca did proclaim the existence
of a local emergency wr.thin the Cr.ty of Santa Monr.ca; an~

WHEREAS, COrnMenclng on March 1, 1983, condit~ons of extre~e
peril to the safety of persons and property have arisen wr.thin
the City of Santa Monica caused by storm, high t~des, and heavy
surf; and
WHEREAS, the Clty Councr.l was not r.n session at the ti~e of
condr.tlons gr.vr.ng rise to the emergency; and
WHEREAS, on March 1, 1983, the Director of Emergency
Services of the City of Santa Honlca did proclaim the exr.stence
of a local emergency withr.n the Clty of Santa Monr.ca; and
WHEREAS, on March 8, 1983, the Cr.ty Council adopted
Resolution Number 6642 (CCS), ratifying, confirming, and
approving, the proclamation of local emergency by the Director of
EMergency Services; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code Section 8630, the City
Council has reviewed the need to continue the local emergency,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTIO~ 1. The local emergency as proclaimed by the
Director of Emergency Servr.ces on January 27, 1983, shall be
deemed to contr.nue to exist in the C~ty of Santa Monica unt~l r.ts
termr.natr.on is proclar.med by the C~ty Counc~l of the Cr.ty of
Santa Monr.ca.
SECTION 2. The local emergency as proclaimed by the
Dr.rector of Emergency Services on March 1, 1983, shall be deemed
to continue to exist r.n the Cr.ty of Santa Monica until ~ts
termination lS proclaimed by the City Council of the City of
Santa Monica.

SECTION 3. The Clty Clerk shall certr.fy to the adoption of
thr.s Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
ln full force and effect.
