R-6767 . - CA:RMM:rl'\emerg9 City Council Meeting 10-25-83 Santa Monica, California RESOLUTION NUMBER 6767 (City Counc1l Series) A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA P~OCLAIMING THE CONTINUED EXISTENCE OF THE LOCAL EMERGENCY WHEREAS, Municipal Code Section 2305 authorlzes the Director of Emergency Services to proclaiw the existence or threatened eXlstence of a local emergency when the City of Santa Monlca 15 affected or likely to be affected by a public calamity and the City Council is not in session; and WHF.REAS, comencing on January 27, 1983, conditions of extreme peril to the safety of persons and property pave arisen within the City of Santa Monica caused by storm, higp tides, and heavy surf; and "~REAS, the City Council was not in session on January 27, 1983; and WHEREAS, on January 27, 1983, the Dir ector of Emergency services of the city of Santa ~onica did proclaim the existence of a local emergency wlthin the City of Santa Monica; and WHEREAS, on February 1, 1983, the city Council adopted Resolution Number 6621 (CCS), ratifying, confirming, and approving, the proclamation of local emergency by the Director of Emergency Servlces; and 1 . . WHEREAS, commencing on March 1, 1983, conditions of extreme peril to the safety of persons and property have arisen within the C~ty of Santa Monica caused by storm, high tides, and heavy surf~ and WHEREAS, the City Council was not in session at the time of condit~ons g~v~ng rise to the emergency~ and WHEREAS, on March 1, 1983, the Director of Emergency Services of the City of Santa Mon1ca did proclaim the existence of a local e~erqency w1th1n the City of Santa Monica: and WHEREAS, on March 8, 1983, the City Council adopted Resolution Number 6642 (CCS), rat~fying, conflrming, and approving, the proclamat1on of local emergency hy the Director of F.mergency Services: and WHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code Section 8630, the City Council has reviewed the need to cont1nue the local emergency, NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNC IL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SF.CTION 1. The local emergency as proclaimed by the Director of Emergency Services on January 27, 1983, shall be dee~ed to cont1nue to exist in the City of Santa Mon1ca until its termination 1S proclaimed by the Ci ty Counc i 1 of the ci ty of Santa Monica. SECTION 2. The local emergency as proclaimed by the Director of Emergency Services on ~arch 1, 1983, shall be deemed to continue to exist in the City of Santa Monica until its termination is proclaimed by the City Council of the City of Santa Monica. 2 . .
