CA:RMM:rmemerg9 City council Meeting 1-10-84 Santa MonLca, Cal~fornia RESOLUTION NUMBER 6797(cCS} (Clty Council Series) A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA PROCLAIMING THE CONTINUED EXISTENCE OF THE LOCAL EMERGENCY WHEREAS, Municipal Code Sect10n 2305 authorizes the Director of Emergency Services to proclaim the existence or threatened existence of a local emergency when the City of Santa Mon1ca is affected or 11kely to be affected by a public calamity and the City Council is not in session; and WHEREAS, commenclng on January 27, 1983, conditions of extreme peril to the safety of persons and property have arisen within the City of Santa Monica caused by storm, high tides, and heavy surf; and WHEREAS, the City Council was not in session on January 27, 1983; and WHEREAS, on January 27, 1983, the Director of Emergency SerVlces of the C1ty of Santa Monica did proclaim the existence of a local emergency wlthin the City of Santa Monica; and WHEREAS, on February 1, 1983, the City Council adopted Reso1utlon Number 6621 (CCS), ratifying, confirmlng, and approving, the proclamat10n of local emergency by the Dlrector of Emergency Services; and 1 ~ - WHEREAS, commencing on March 1, 1983, conditions of extreme peril to the safety of persons and property have arisen within the City of Santa Monlca caused by storm, high tides, and heavy surf; and WHEREAS, the City Council was not in session at the time of cond~tions giving rise to the emergency; and WHEREAS, on March 1, 1983, the Director of Emergency Servlces of the City of Santa Monica d1d proclaim the eXlstence of a local emergency wlthin the City of Santa Monicai and WHEREAS, on March 8, 1983, the City Council adopted Resolution Number 6642 (CcS), ratifying, confirming, and approving, the proclamation of local emergency by the D~rector of Emergency Serv1cesi and WHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code Section 8630, the City Council has reviewed the need to continue the local emergency, NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. The local e~ergency as proclaimed by the Director of Emergency Services on January 27, 1983, shall be deemed to continue to exist in the City of Santa Monica until its term~nat1on is procla~med by the City Councll of the City of Santa Monica. SECTION 2. The local emergency as proclaimed by the Director of Emergency Services on March 1, 1983, shall be deemed to contlnue to exist in the City of Santa Monica unt11 its termination ~s proclaimed by the City Council of the City of Santa Mon1ca. 2 . - SECTION 3.
