CA:RMM:rmemerg9 City Council Meeting 1-24-84 Santa Monica, Californ1a RESOLUTION NUMBER 6808(CCS) (C1ty Council Series) A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA PROCLAIMING THE CONTINUED EXISTENCE OF THE LOCAL EMERGENCY WHEREAS, Munic1pal Code Section 2305 authorizes the Director of Emergency Services to procla1m the existence or threatened existence of a local e~ergency when the City of Santa Monica is affected or likely to be affected by a public calamity and the City Council is not in seSSlon; and WHEREAS, commencing on January 27, 1983, conditions of extreme peril to the safety of persons and property have ar1sen with1n the City of Santa Monica caused by storm, high tldes, and heavy surf; and WHEREAS, the City Council was not in seSSlon on January 27, 1983; and WHEREAS, on January 27, 1983, the Director of Emergency Services of the City of Santa Monica did proclaim the existence of a local emergency within the C1ty of Santa Monica; and WHEREAS, on February I, 1983, the City Council adopted Resolution Number 6621 (CCS), rat1fying, confirming, and approving, the proclamation of local emergency by the Director of Emergency Services; and 1 e . WHEREAS, commencing on March I, 1983, condit1ons of extreme peril to the safety of persons and property have arisen wi thin the City of Santa Mon1ca caused by storm, high tides, and heavy surf; and WHEREAS, the City council was not in session at the time of conditions giving rise to the emergency; and WHEREAS, on March 1, 1983, the Director of Emergency Services of the city of Santa Monlca did proclaim the existence of a local emergency within the c1ty of Santa Monica; and ~\1HEREAS, on March 8, 1983, the City Council adopted Resolution Number 6642 (CCS), ratifY1ng, confirming, and approving, the proclamation of local emergency by the Director of Emergency Services; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code Section 8630, the City Council has reviewed the need to continue the local emergency, NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. The local emergency as proclaimed by the Director of Emergency Services on January 27, 1983, shall be dee~ed to continue to exist 1n the City of Santa Mon1ca until its termination lS proclaimed by the City Counc1l of the City of Santa Mon1ca. SECTION 2. The local emergency as proclaimed by the Director of Emergency Services on March 1, 1983, shall be deemed to continue to eXlst in the City of Santa Monica until its terminat10n is proclaimed by the C1 ty Council of the City of Santa Monica. 2 e .'
