A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA PROCLAIMING THE
CONTINUED EXISTENCE OF THE LOCAL EMERGENCY
WHEREAS,
Municipal
Code Section 2305 authorizes the
Dlrector of Emergency Services to proclaim the eXlstence or
threatened eXlstence of a local emergency when the City of Santa
Monica is affected or likely to be affected by a public calamity
and the Clty Council is not in seSSlon; and
WHEREAS, commencing on January 27, 1983,
condltions of
extreme peril to the safety of persons and property have arisen
withln the City of Santa Monlca caused by storm, high tides, and
heavy surf; and
WHEREAS, the City Councll was not in session on January 27,
1983; and
WHEREAS, on January 27, 1983, the Director of Emergency
Services of the City of Santa Monlca did proclaim the existence
of a local emergency within the City of Santa Monica; and
WHEREAS, on February 1,
1983, the Clty Council adopted

confirming, and
approvlng, the proclamation of local emergency by the Director of
Emergency Services; and

WHEREAS, commencing on March 1, 19B3, conditions of extreme
peril to the safety of persons and property have arisen withln
the City of Santa Monica caused by storm, high tides, and heavy
surf1 and
WHEREAS, the C1ty Council was not in session at the time of
conditions giving rise to the emergencY1 and
WHEREAS, on March 1,
19B3,
the Director of Emergency
Services of the C1ty of Santa MOn1ca did proclaim the existence
of a local emergency within the C1ty of Santa Mon1ca: and
WHEREAS, on March B,
19B3, the City Council adopted

(CCS), ratifying, confirming, and
approving, the proclamation of local emergency by the Director of
Emergency Services: and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code Section B630, the City
Council has reviewed the need to continue the local emergency,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1.
The local emergency as proclaimed by the
Director of Emergency Serv1ces on January 27,
19B3, shall be
deemed to cont1nue to exist in the City of Santa Monica until its
term1nation 1S proclaimed by the City Council of the City of
Santa Monica.
SECTION 2.
The local emergency as proclaimed by the
D1rector of Emergency Services on March I, 1983, shall be deemed
to continue to exist in the City of Santa Mon1ca until its
termination is proclaimed by the City Council of the City of
Santa Mon1ca.

SECTION 3. The Clty Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this Resolutlon, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
in full force and effect.
