A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA PROCLAIMING THE
CONTINUED EXISTENCE OF THE LOCAL EMERGENCY
WHEREAS, Munlclpal Code Section 2305 author1zes the
Director of Emergency Servlces to proclalm the existence or
threatened existence of a local emergency When the City of Santa
Monica is affected or likely to be affected by a public calamity
and the City Council is not ln session; and
WHEREAS, commencinq on January 27, 1983, conditions of
extreme peril to the safety of persons and property have arisen
wlthin the Clty of Santa r10nica caused by storm, hlgh tides, and
heavy surf; and
WHEREAS, the City Councll was not ~n session on January 27,
1983; and
WHEREAS, on January 27, 1983, the D~rector of Emergency
SerVlces of the City of Santa Monica ald proclalm the eXlstence
of a local emergency wlthln the City of Santa Monlca; and
WHEREAS, on February 1, 1983, the Clty Counc~l adopted
Resolution Number 6621 (CCS), ratifying, confirming, and
approvlng, the proclaMatlon of local emergency by the Director of
Emergency Services; and

WHEREAS, commencing on March I, 1983, condltions of extreme
peril to the safety of persons and property have arisen within
the City of Santa Monlca caused by storm, high tides, and heavy
surf; and
WHEREAS, the City Councll was not in session at the time of
conditlons giving rise to the emergency; and
WHEREAS, on March 1, 1983, the Dlrector of Emergency
Services of the Cl ty of Santa Monlca did proclaim the existence
of a local emergency within the City of Santa Monlca; and
WHEREAS, on March 8, 1983, the City Council adopted
Resolution Number 6642 (CCS), ratlfying, confirmlng, and
approvlng, the proclamation of local emergency by the Director of
Emergency Servlces; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code Section 8630, the City
Council has revlewed the need to continue the local emergency,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The local emergency as

SECTION 2.

Dlrector of Emergency Services on March 1, 1983, shall be deemed
to continue to eXlst ln the City of Santa Monica until ~ts
terminatlon is proclaimed by the Clty Councll of the City of
Santa Monlca.

SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the saMe shall be
ln full force and effect.
