A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA PROCLAIMING THE
CONTINUED EXISTENCE OF THE LOCAL EMERGENCY
WHEREAS,

Code Sectlon 2305 authorizes the
Director of Emergency Services to procla~m the existence or
threatened ex~stence of a local emergency when the City of Santa
Mon1ca is affected or llkely to be affected by a public calamity
and the City Council is not in seSS1on; and
WHEREAS, commenclng on January 27, 1983, conditions of
extreme per11 to the safety of persons and property have ar1sen
wlthin the City of Santa Mon~ca caused by storm, h1gh t1des, and
heavy surf; and
WHEREAS, the City Counc~l was not in session on January 27,
1983; and
WHEREAS, on January 27, 1983, the Director of Emergency
SerVlces of the C1ty of Santa Monica did procla1m the existence
of a local emergency w1th1n the City of Santa Monica; and
WHEREAS, on February I, 1983, the City Council adopted

(CCS), ratlfying, confirmlng, and
approvlng, the proclamatLon of local emergency by the Director of
Emergency Services; and

WHEREAS, commencing on March 1, 1983, condit~ons of extreme
per~l to the safety of persons and property have arisen within
the City of Santa Monica caused by storm, high t~des, and heavy
surf; and
WHEREAS, the Clty Counc11 was not in session at the time of
condit~ons glving r1se to the emergency; and
WHEREAS, on March 1, 1983, the D1rector of Emergency
Services of the Clty of Santa Mon1ca dld proclaim the existence
of a local emergency within the Clty of Santa Monlca; and
WHEREAS, on March 8, 1983, the Clty Counc1l adopted
Resolut1on Number 6642 (CCS), ratifying, confirming, and
approvlng, the proclamatlon of local emergency by the Director of
Emergency Serv1ces; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code Sectlon 8630, the City
Council has revlewed the need to continue the local emergency,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The local emergency as proclalmed by the
D1rector of Emergency Services on January 27, 1983, shall be
deemed to cont1nue to eX1st in the City of Santa Monica until its
termination is procla1med by the City Council of the City of
Santa Monica.
SECTION 2.
The local emergency as procla1med by the
D1rector of Emergency Serv~ces on March 1, 1983, shall be deemed
to continue to exist in the C1ty of Santa Monica unt11 its
term1natlon lS procla1med by the Clty Council of the Clty of
Santa Mon1ca.

SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall cert1fy to the adopt1on of
this Resolut10n, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
in full force and effect.
