A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA REQUESTING
THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE
COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES TO RENDER SPECIFIED
SERVICES TO THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA RELATING
TO THE CONDUCT OF A SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION
TO BE HELD ON TUESDAY, JUNE 5, 1984
WHEREAS, a Spec1al Municipal Election is to be held in the
C~ty of Santa Mon1ca on Tuesday, June 5, 1984: and
WHEREAS, ~n the course of conduct of the Special Munic~pal
Elect10n and in relation thereto it will be necessary to ma~l
sample ballots and polling place information to the registered
voters of the City of Santa Monica and the reg~stered voters 1n
the Santa Mon1ca-Malibu Un1fied School D1strict lying outside the
City of Santa Mon1ca; and
WHEREAS, it will fac11~tate the mail1ng of sample ballots
1f the Reg1strar of Voters of the County of Los Angeles wlll make
avallable to the city of Santa Monica the computer record of the
names and addresses of all el1gible reg1stered voters in order
that labels may be pr~nted for attaching to self-mailer sample
ballot pamphlets; and

WHEREAS, the City of Santa Monica desires the Registrar of
Voters to furn1sh such other election ass~stance as may be
author1zed by state law; and
WHEREAS, all necessary expense in perform1ng these services
shall be paid by the Clty of Santa Mon1ca,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Pursuant to Election Code Section 22003, the
Clty Councll requests that the Board of Supervisors of the County
of Los Angeles permit the Reg1strar of Voters to provide the
following serVlces to the city to the extent determ1ned necessary
by the C1ty Clerk in the event the Special Mun~cipal Elect~on is
not consolidated with the statewide d1rect primary election: (1)
prepare and furnish to the C~ty of Santa Monica for use 1n
conduct1ng its Special Municipal Elect~on the computer record of
the names and addresses of e11g1ble registered voters in the City
of Santa Mon1ca and in the Santa Monica-Mal~bu Unified School
District lying outside the Clty of Santa Monica ~n order that the
Clty of Santa Monica may prlnt labels to be attached to
self-ma~ler sample ballot pamphlets; (2) furnish to the C1ty of
Santa Monlca pr1nted ~ndices of the voters to be used by the
prec1nct board at the pol11ng place; (3) make available to the
City of Santa Monica additlonal election equlpment and asslstance
according to state law; and (4) such other services as may be
provided and deemed necessary to reduce the expense and
administrative burden of the election.

SECTION 2.
The C1ty of Santa Monica shall re1mburse the
County of Los Angeles for services performed when the work is
completed and upon presentation to the City of Santa Mon~ca of a
properly approved b1ll.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk 1S directed to forward without
delay to the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles
and to the Registrar of Voters a certified copy of th~s
Resolut10n.
SECTION 4. The C1ty Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
th~s Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
in full force and effect.
