CA:RMM:rmemerg9 City Council Meeting 3-13-84 RESOLUTION }WMBER 6838(CC5) (City Counc~l Ser~es) A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OP THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA PROCLAIMING THE CONTINUED EXISTENCE OF THE LOCAL EMERGENCY WHEREAS, MUn~cipal Code Section 2305 authorizes the D1rector of Emergency Services to proclaim the existence or threatened eXlstence of a local emergency when the City of Santa Monlca is affected or likely to be affected by a public calamity and the C~ty Council is not 1n session; and WHEREAS, commencing on January 27, 1983, conditions of extreme peril to the safety of persons and property have arisen within the City of Santa Monica caused by storm, high tides, and heavy surf; and WHEREAS, the City Counc1l was not in session on January 27, 1983; and WHEREAS, on January 27, 1983, the Director of Emergency Services of the City of Santa Monica did proclaim the existence of a local emergency wlthin the City of Santa Monica; and WHEREAS, on February 1, 1983, the City Council adopted Resolut~on Number 6621 (CCS), rat1fying, confirming, and approving, the proclamation of local emergency by the Director of Emergency Services: and 1 - . WHEREAS, commencing on March 1, 1983, conditions of extreme peril to the safety of persons and property have arisen within the City of Santa Monlca caused by storm, h1gh tides, and heavy surf; and WHEREAS, the City Council was not 1n session at the time of conditions giving rise to the emergency; and WHEREAS, on March 1, 1983, the Director of Emergency Services of the City of Santa Mon1ca d~d proclaim the existence of a local emergency within the City of Santa Monica; and WHEREAS, on March 8, 1983, the City Council adopted Resolution Number 6642 (CCS), ratifying, confirming, and aporovina, the proclamat10n of local emergency by the Director of Emergency Serv1ces; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code Section 8630, the City Council has reviewed the need to cont1nue the local emergency, NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. The local emergency as proclaimed by the Director of Emergency Services on January 27, 1983, shall be deemed to continue to exist 1n the City of Santa Monica until its termination lS proclalmed by the City Council of the City of Santa Mon1ca. SECTION 2. The local emergency as proclaimed by the D~rector of Emergency Serv~ces on March 1, 1983, shall be deemed to cOnt1nue to exist in the City of Santa Monica until its terminat~on is proclaimed by the city Counci 1 of the City of Santa Monica. 2 . .
