CA:RMM:rmemerg9 Clty Council Meetlng 3-27-84 RESOLUTION NUMBER 6843(ccS) (City Council Series) A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA PROCLAIMING THE CONTINUED EXISTENCE OF THE LOCAL EMERGENCY WHEREAS, Municipal Code Section 2305 authorizes the D~rector of Emergency Services to proclaim the existence or threatened existence of a local emergency when the City of Santa Monica is affected or likely to be affected by a public calamity and the City Council is not in session; and WHEREAS, commencing on January 27, 1983, conditions of extreme peril to the safety of persons and property have arisen wlthln the Clty of Santa Monica caused by storm, high tides, and heavy surf; and WHEREAS, the City Council was not in seSS10n on January 27, 1983; and WHEREAS, on January 27, 1983, the Director of Emergency Serv1ces of the City of Santa Monica did proclaim the existence of a local emergency within the Clty of Santa Monica; and WHEREAS, on February 1, 1983, the City Council adopted Resolution Number 6621 (CCS), ratifY1ng, confirming, and approving, the proclamat~on of local emergency by the Director of Emergency Services; and 1 . . WHEREAS, commencing on March 1, 1983, con~~t~ons of extreme peril to the safety of persons and property have arisen within the city of Santa Monica caused by storm, h~gh tides, and heavy surf; and WHEREAS, the City Council was not ln session at the time of cond1tions giv1ng rise to the emergency; and WHEREAS, on March 1, 1983, the Director of Emergency Servlces of the City of Santa Monica did proclaim the existence of a local emergency withln the C~ty of Santa Mon~ca; and WHEREAS, on March 8, 1983, the city council adopted Resolution Number 6642 (CCS), ratifying, confirming, and approving, the proclamation of local emergency by the Director of Emergency Services; and WHERPAS, pursuant to Government Code Section 8630, the City Council has reviewed the need to contlnue the local emergency, NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. The local emergency as proclaimed by the Director of Emergency Services on January 27, 1983, shall be deemed to continue to exist in the City of Santa Monica until its termination is proclaimed by the Clty Council of the City of Santa Monlca. SECTION 2. The local emergency as proclaimed by the Director of Emergency Serv~ces on March 1, 1983, shall be deemed to continue to exist in the City of Santa Monica until its termination is procla~med by the City Councll of the City of Santa Monica. 2 . . SECTION 3. The Clty Clerk shall certify to the adoption of th1s Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
