A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA PROCLAIMING THE
CONTINUED EXISTENCE OF THE LOCAL EMERGENCY
WHEREAS,

Code Section 2305 authorizes the
D1rector of Emergency SerV1ces to procla1m the eX1stence or
threatened eX1stence of a local emergency when the City of Santa
Mon1ca 1S affected or 11kely to be affected by a pub11c calamity
and the City Counc11 1S not 1n session; and
WHEREAS, commenc1ng on January 27, 1983,
cond1tions of
extreme peril to the safety of persons and property have arisen
w1th1n the City of Santa Mon1ca caused by stor.m, h1gh tides and
heavy surf; and
WHEREAS, the C1ty Counc11 was not in session on January 27,
1983, and
WHEREAS, on January 27, 1983, the Director of Emergency
Services of the C1ty of Santa Mon1ca d1d proc1a1m the eX1stence
of a local emergency with1n the C1ty of Santa Mon1ca; and
WHEREAS, on February 1,
1983, the C1ty Council adopted

WHEREAS, commenc~ng on March 1. 1983, cond~t~ons of extreme
per~l to the safety of persons and property have ar~sen wlthin
the City of Santa Monlca caused by storm, hlgh tides, and heavy
surf; and
WHEREAS, the Clty Counc~l was not ln seSSlon at the time of
cond~t~ons g~v~ng rise to the emergency; and
WHEREAS, on March 1, 1983, the Director of Emergency
Services of the C~ty of Santa Mon~ca dld proclalm the eXlstence
of a local emergency with~n the Clty of Santa Mon~ca; and
WHEREAS, on March 8, 1983, the Clty Councl1 adopted
Resolut1on Number 6642 (CCS), rat~fYlng, confirmlng, and
approving, the proclamatlon of local emergency by the Dlrector of
Emergency Services; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code Sectlon 8630, the Clty
Council has reviewed the need to cont~nue the local emergency,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The local emergency as proclalmed by the
Director of Emergency Services on January 27, 1983, shall be
deemed to cont~nue to ex~st ~n the C1ty of Santa Monica untl1 its
term~natlon 1S procla~med by the C1ty CounCl1 of the C~ty of
Santa Mon1ca,
SECTION 2. The local emergency as procla~med by the
Director of Emergency Serv~ces on March 1, 1983, shall be deemed
to continue to eXlst In the Clty of Santa Monlca untl1 its
termlnation is proclalmed by the Clty Councl1 of the Clty of
Santa Mon~ca,

SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall cert1fy to the adopt1on of
th1s Resolut1on, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
1n full force and effect,
