A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA ESTABLISHING
A POLICY AGAINST DOUBLE MEMBERSHIP ON
BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS
WHEREAS, citizen participation in City government is
encouraged by particlpation on various Boards and Commisslons:
and
WHEREAS, ln order to ensure maXlmum citlzen
partlclpation, the City Council desires to establish a policy
against indlviduals serving on more than one Board or
Commission,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1.
No person shall serve on more than one
Board, Commission or corporation, the membership of which lS
entlrely appOlnted by the city CounCll, with the exception of
BUllding and Safety Commission, Electrical Board of Appeals,
and Plumblng and Mechanical Board of Appeals.
SECTION 2. The Clty Council may waive the requirements
of this Resolutlon upon the vote of two-thirds of its
membership.
This Resolution shall apply prospectively and
shall not apply to any current membership on any Board,
Commission, or corporation.

SECTION 3. City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this Resolution, and henceforth and thereafter the same shall
be In full force and effect.
