A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA PROCLAIMING THE
CONTINUED EXISTENCE OF THE LOCAL EMERGENCY
WHEREAS, Mun~c~pal Code Section 2305 authorizes the
Director of Emergency Services to proclaim the existence or
threatened ex~stence of a local emergency when the eity of Santa
Mon~ca is affected or likely to be affected by a public calamity
and the C~ty Council ~s not in sess~on; and
WHEREAS, commencing on January 27 i 1983 i conditions of
extreme perll to the safety of persons and property have arisen
wlth~n the Clty of Santa Monlca caused by storm, hlgh tldes, and
heavy surf; and
WHEREAS, the City Councll was not in seSSlon on January 27,
1983; and
WHEREAS, on January 27, 1983, the Director of Emergency
Services of the City of Santa Monica did proclaim the existence
of a local emergency with~n the C~ty of Santa Monica: and
WHEREAS, on February 1, 1983, the C~ty Council adopted
Resolution Number 6621 (ecs), ratlfying, confirm~ng, and
approving, the proclamation of local emergency by the Director of
Emergency Services: and

WHEREAS, commencing on March 1, 1983, cond~tions of extreme
per~l to the safety of persons and property have ar~sen wi thin
the City of Santa Monica caused by storm, high t~des, and heavy
surf: and
WHEREAS, the City Counc~l was not in session at the time of
conditions g~v~ng rise to the emergency: and
WHEREAS, on March 1, 1983, the Director of Emergency
Services of the City of Santa Monica d~d proclaim the existence
of a local emergency w~thin the City of Santa Monica: and
WHEREAS, on March 8, 1983, the c~ ty Council adopted
Resolution Number 6642 (CCS), ratify~ng, conf~rming, and
approv~ng, the proclamat~on of local emergency by the Director of
Emergency Services: and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code Sect~on 8630, the City
Council has reviewed the need to continue the local emergency,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The local emergency as proclaimed by the
D~rector of Emergency Services on January 27, 1983, shall be
deemed to continue to exist ~n the City of Santa Monica until ~ts
termination ~s proclaimed by the City Council of the Ci ty of
Santa Mon~ca.
SECTION 2. The local emergency as proclaimed by the
Director of Emergency Services on March I, 1983, shall be deemed
to continue to exist ~n the City of Santa Mon~ca un til ~ ts
term~nat~on is procla~med by the ci ty Coune il of the City of
Santa Mon~ea.

SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adopt~on of
this Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
~n full force and effect.
