RESOLUTION NUMBER 6856 (CCS)
(CITY COUNCIL SERIES)
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA APPROVING
THE PROVISION OF LOW AND MODERATE INCOME REPLACEMENT HOUSING AND
FINDING THAT SUCH EXPENDITURE WILL BE OF BENEFIT TO THE OCEAN PARK
REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT l(b).
WHEREAS, It IS the policy of this locality to assure an adequate
supply of standard housing affordable to low and moderate income
persons and familIes; and
WHEREAS, Ocean Park Redevelopment Projects l(b) and (here1nafter
"Project") has been establIshed 1n the CIty of Santa Monica in the
area bordered by the south C1ty limits, Ocean Park Boulevard, Neilson
Way and the Ocean;
WHEREAS, the Ocean Park Redevelopment Project caused the
demolItion of more than 700 unIts of housing;
WHEREAS, the Redevelopment Agency of the City of Santa Mon1ca
seeks to Invoke the provision an Ocean Park Redevelopment Project
Health and Safety Code Section 33334.2 for the purpose of replacIng
the supply of housing demolIshed due to redevelopment activity;
WHEREAS; Health and Safety Code SectIon 33334.2 requires that the
C1ty Council concur with the Redevelopment Agency's f1nding that the
use of the funds WIll be of benefit to the redevelopment project area
when the funds WIll be expended outSIde the boundaries of the
redevelopment project area;
WHEREAS, the Redevelopment Agency has deterrnlned that replacIng
the supply of low and moderate income hOUSIng avaIlable at affordable
costs outside of the proJect area WIll beneflt the Ocean Park
Redevelopment Project,

NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The City Council finds and determines that the Ocean
Park Redevelopment ProJect will benefit by the provIsion of
replacement housIng for low and moderate income persons and families
in accordance wIth Health and Safety Code SectIon 33334.2.
SECTION 2.
The CIty CouncIl fInds and determInes that the
Payment Agreement by and between the Redevelopment Agency of the CIty
of Santa MonIca and the Parking AuthorIty of the CIty of Santa Monica
dated
May 8
, 1984 is of benefIt to the Ocean Park Redevelopment
ProJect.
SECTION 3.
The CIty Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
resolutIon, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be In full
force and effect.
