A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA PROCLAIMING THE
CONTINUED EXISTENCE OF THE LOCAL EMERGENCY
WHEREAS, Mun~c~pal Code Sect~on 2305 authorizes the
D~rector of Emergency Services to proclaim the existence or
threatened existence of a local emergency when the City of Santa
Mon~ca ~s affected or likely to be affected by a public calam~ty
and the C1ty Counc~l ~s not in session; and
WHEREAS, cornmenc1ng on January 27, 1983, conditions of
extreme per~l to the safety of persons and property have arisen
w~th~n the C~ty of Santa Mon~ca caused by storm, high tides, and
heavy surf; and
WHEREAS, the C~ty Counc~l was not 1n session on January 27,
1983; and
WHEREAS, on January 27, 1983, the Director of Emergency
Services of the C~ty of Santa Mon1ca did proclaim the existence
of a local emergency within the C~ty of Santa Mon~ca: and
WHEREAS, on February 1, 1983, the City Council adopted
Resolut1on Number 6621 (CCS), ratifying, confirm~ng, and
approving, the proclamation of local emergency by the Director of
Emergency Serv~ces; and

WHEREAS, commenc~ng on March 1, 1983, cond~t~ons of extreme
peril to the safety of persons and property have arisen W~ thin
the Clty of Santa Monica caused by storm, high tides, and heavy
surf: and
WHEREAS, the City council was not in session at the tlme of
condit~ons giving rise to the emergency: and
WHEREAS, on March I, 1983, the Director of Emergency
Services of the City of Santa Monica did proclaim the existence
of a local emergency within the City of Santa Monica: and
WHEREAS, on March 8, 1983, the City Council adopted
Resolutlon Number 6642 (CCS), ratlfyin'::l, confirm~ng, and
approving, the proclamation of local emergency by the Director of
Emergency Serv~ces: and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code Section 8630, the City
Councl1 has reviewed the need to continue the local emergency,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The local emergency as proclaimed by the
D~rector of Emergency Servlces on January 27, 1983, shall be
deemed to cont1nue to exist 1n the C1ty of Santa Monica until its
term1nat1on 1S proclaimed by the City Council of the C1ty of
Santa Mon1ca.
SECTION 2. The local emergency as proclalmed by the
Director of Emergency Services on March 1, 1983, shall be deemed
to cont1nue to eXlst in the Clty of Santa Mon1ca until its
termination is procla1med by the C1 ty council of the City of
Santa Monica.

SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
th~s Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
in full force and effect.
