A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA MONICA COMMENDING THE HONORABLE
DOLORES H. PRESS, MAYOR PRO TEMPORE, FOR
HER DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA
WHEREAS, Dolores Press was elected to serve on the City
Council of the CIty of Santa Monica in AprIl, 1981, and was
elected Mayor Pro Tempore in April, 1983; and
WHEREAS, Dolores Press also served as Chairperson of the
City of Santa Monica Rent Control Board from January, 19BO to
April, 19B1; and
WHEREAS, Dolores Press, while serving on the City
council, as well as in her private life, has devoted special
concern and attention to the problems of working people; and
WHEREAS, Dolores Press has been a vigorous fighter for
the improvement of the status of women and was the moving
force leading to the establishment of the Commission on the
Status of Women; and
WHEREAS, Dolores Press has been a strong advocate of
measures to make easier the participation of disabled persons
in the daily life of the community; and

WHEREAS, Dolores Press has served the public at an
extraordinary level of commitment, while at the same time
supporting her children and raising them to adulthood,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1.
Mayor Pro Tempore Dolores Press has given
generously of herself and her time, and she is hereby
commended for her many serVlces to this community.
SECTION 2.
The City Council of the City of Santa
Monica, on behalf of the citizens of this community, expresses
lts appreciation to Mayor Pro Tempore Dolores Press for her
many contributions which have enriched the lives of the
citizens of the City of Santa Monica and for her enthusiastic
and devoted community service and leadership.
SECTION 3.
The Clty Clerk is directed to send a
certified copy of this Resolution to Hayor Pro Tempore Dolores
Press.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of thlS Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same
shall be in full force and effect.
