A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA PROCLAIMING THE
CONTINUED EXISTENCE OF THE LOCAL EMERGENCY
WHEREAS,
MunIcipal
Code Section 2305 authorizes the
Director of Emergency Services to proclaim the existence or
threatened existence of a local emergency when the City of Santa
MonIca is affected or likely to be affected by a public calamity
and the City Council IS not 1n session; and
WHEREAS, commenCIng on January 27, 1983, conditions of
extreme peril to the safety of persons and property have arisen
wIthIn the City of Santa Monica caused by storm, high tides, and
heavy surf; and
WHEREAS, the City CouncIl was not In session on January 27,
1983; and
WHEREAS, on January 21, 1983, the Director of Emergency
Services of the CIty of Santa MonIca did proclaim the eXIstence
of a local emergency wIthin the City of Santa Monica; and
WHEREAS, on February 1, 1983, the CIty Council adopted

approving, the proclamation of local emergency by the DIrector of
Emergency Services; and

WHEREAS, commenc1ng on March I, 1963, condit1ons of extreme
peril to the safety of persons and property have ar1sen withln
the C1ty of Santa Monica caused by storm, high tides, and heavy
surf; and
WHEREAS, the City Council was not ln session at the time of
cond1t1ons giving rise to the emergency; and
WHEREAS, on March 1, 1963, the Director of Emergency
Services of the City of Santa Monica did proclaim the eXlstence
of a local emergency within the City of Santa Monica; and
WHEREAS, on March 6, 1963, the Clty Council adopted

(CCS), ratifY1ng, confirming, and
approv1ng, the proclamat1on of local emergency by the Director of
Emergency Servlces; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code Section 6630, the C1ty
Council has reviewed the need to contlnue the local emergency,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION
1. The
local emergency as proclalmed by the
SerVlces on January 27, 1963, shall be
D1rector of
Emergency
deemed to cont1nue to eXlst 1n the City of Santa Monica until lts
termination is proclalmed by the City Councll of the City of
Santa Monica.
SECTION 2.
The local emergency as proclaimed by the
Director of Emergency Serv1ces on March 1, 1983, shall be deemed
to continue to eXist in the City of Santa Monlca until its
terminat10n 1S proclaimed by the City Council of the City of
Santa Monica.

SECTION 3. The C1ty Clerk shall cert1fy to the adoptlon of
this Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
10 full force and effect.
