A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA AUTHORIZING
THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN
AMENDMENT TO THE MEMORANDUM OF
UNDERSTANDING WITH THE SANTA MONICA
FIREFIGHTERS ASSOCIATION (LOCAL 11139 IAFFl
WHEREAS, the CIty of Santa Monica and the Santa Monica
Firefighters Association (Local 11139 IAFFl entered into a
Memorandum of Understanding in January, 1981;
WHEREAS, It is the mutual desire of the City and the Santa
Monica Fireflghters Assoclatlon to amend certaIn terms of that
Memorandum of Understanding;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: The Clty Manager is hereby authorized to
execute the attached amendment to the Memorandum of UnderstandIng
between the City of Santa Monica and the Santa Monica
Firefighters Association (Local 1109 IAFF) ;
SECTION 2: The Clty Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
thIS ResolutIon and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
in full force and effect.

AGREEMENT AMENDING
MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING
THIS AGREEMENT entered into thIS _____ day of January, 1985
by and between the CITY OF SANTA MONICA, a municipal corporation
(hereInafter "CIty") and the SANTA MONICA FIREFIGHTERS
ASSOCIATION (LOCAL 11139 IAFFl (hereInafter "Local 11139"1 is made
with reference to the follow1ng:

A. The CIty and Local 1109 entered Into a memorandum of
understandIng In January 1981, ent i Ued "Memorandum of
UnderstandIng Between c1ty of Santa MonIca and Santa Monica
FirefIghters Local No. 11139 IAFF (hereInafter "MOU"l.
B. It IS the mutual deS1re of the City and Local 1109 to
amend Section 40, "Term of Agreement" and Exhibit "AU as It
pertaIns to wages and PERS contributions.
NOW, THEREFORE, It 1S mutually agreed by and between the
CIty and Local 1109 as follows:
l. On and after January 23, 1985, SectIon 40, "Term of
Agreement" IS amended to read as follows:
This Agreement sha 11 be effectIve as of the 1st day of
January 1981 and shall remain in full force and effect
until June 30, 1986. It shall be automatically renewed
from year to year thereafter unless eIther party shall
notIfy the other In wrItIng not later than March 1st of
1986 and each subsequent year that it deSIres to modIfy
thIS agreement and specifIcally Indicate requested
mOdIficatIons.
2. On and after January 23, 1985, the terms of Section C
and Section 0 of ExhIbit nAil shall be of no further force or

effect except to the extent prev10usly executed by the partIes
hereto.
3. On and after January 23, 1985, Exhibit "A" 1S amended
to add Sections E through H to read as follows:
E. Effective January 27, 1985, the CI ty shall pay to PERS
on behalf of each employee covered hereunder, the 3.48%, of
the employee's compensation which is currently paid by the
employee.
F. Effective January 27, 1985, the II Ell step salaries for
all employees covered hereunder shall be increased by four
percent (4 %) .
G. EffectIve July 7, 1985, the II Ell step salarIes for all
employees covered hereunder shall be increased by f1ve
percent (5%) .
H. Effect1ve January 5, 1986, the "En step salaries for
all employees covered hereunder shall be 1ncreased by seven
percent (7%1.
4. Except as expressly mod1fied hereIn, all other terms
and covenants set forth in the MOU shall remaIn the same and
shall be in full force and effect.
