A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA PROCLAIMING THE
CONTINUED EXISTENCE OF THt LOCAL EMERGENCY
WHEREAS, MunIcipal Code Section 2305 authorizes the
DIrector of Emergency ServIces to proclaIm the eXIstence or
threatened existence of a local emergency when the CIty of Santa
MonIca IS affected or lIkely to be affected by a public calamity
and the CIty Counc 11 is not In seSSIon; and
WHERE:AS, commencing on January 27, 1983, conditions of
extreme perIl to the safety of persons and property have arisen
wi thIn the CIty of Santa MonIca caused by storm, high tIdes, and
heavy surf; and
WHEREAS, the CIty CounCIl was not in session on January 27,
1983; and
WHEREAS, on January 27, 1983, the DIrector of Emergency
SerVIces of the CIty of Santa MonIca dId proclaIm the existence
of a local emergency withIn the City of Santa Monica; and
WHEREA.S, on February 1, 1983, the City Counc il adopted
Resolution Number 6621 (CCS) , ratIfYIng, confirmIng, and
approving, the proclamatIon of local emergency by the Director of
Emergency ServIces; and

WHEREAS, commenclng on March 1, 1983, condItIons of extreme

the Clty of Santa Monica caused by storm, high tides, and heavy
surf; and
WHEREAS, the City CouncIl was not in seSSlon at the tlme of
conditions glvlng rise to the emergency; and
WHEREAS, on March 1, 1983, the Director of Emergency
ServIces of the City of Santa MonIca dld proclalm the eXlstence
of a local emergency wlthln the City of Santa Monicaj and
WHEREAS, on March B, 1983, the CIty Councll adopted
Resolution Number 6642 ( CeS) , ratifYIng, confirmlng, and
approving, the proclamation of local emergency by the Director of
Emergency ServIces; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code Section 8630, the City
Councll has revIewed the need to contlnue the local emergency,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The local emergency as proclaimed by the
DIrector of Emergency SerVlces on January 27, 1983, shall be
deemed to contInue to exist in the CIty of Santa MonIca until its
termination IS proclalmed by the City Council of the City of
Santa Monlca.
SECTION 2. The local emergency as proclaimed by the
Du'ector of Emergency ServIces on March 1, 1983, shall be deemed
to contInue to eXIst In the CIty of Santa Monica until its
termInatIon IS proclalmed by the CIty Council of the City of
Santa Monlca.

SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certlfy to the adoptlon of
thls Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same sha 11 be
ln full force and effect.
