A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA PROCLAIMING THE
CONTINUED EXISTENCE OF THE LOCAL EMERGENCY
WHEREAS, MunIcIpal Code SectIon 2305 authorIzes the
DIrector of Emergency SerVIces to proclaIm the eXIstence or
threatened eXIstence of a local emergency when the CIty of Santa
MonIca IS affected or lIkely to be affected by a publIC calann ty
and the CIty CouncIl IS not In seSSIon, and
WHEREAS, commencIng on January 27, 1983, condItIons of
extreme penl to the safety of persons and property have arIsen
wIthIn the CIty of Santa MonIca caused by storm, hIgh tIdes, and
heavy surfj and
WHEREAS, the CIty CounCIl was not In sesSIon on January 27,
1983; and
WHEREAS, on January 27, 1983, the DIrector of Emergency
ServIces of the CIty of Santa MonIca dld proclalm the existence
of a local emergency wIthIn the CIty of Santa MonIca; and
WHEREAS, on February 1 J 1983, the CIty CounCIl adopted
Resolutlon Number 6621 (CCS) , ratIfYIng, confIrmIng, and
apprOVIng, the proclamatIon of local emergency by the DIrector of
Emergency ServIces; and

WHEREAS, commenclng on March 1, 1983, condltlons of extreme

the Clty of Santa Monica caused by storm, hlgh tldes, and heavy
surf; and
WHEREAS, the Clty Councll was not In seSSIon at the tlme of
condltlons glvlng rIse to the emergency; and
WHEREAS, on March 1, 1983, the DIrector of Emerg.ency
Services of the Clty of Santa Monlca dld proclalm the eXIstence
of a local emergency wlthin the CIty of Santa MonIca; and
WHEREAS, on March 8, 1983, the Clty Councll adopted
Resolutlon Number 6642 (CCS) , ratlfYlng, conflrmlng, and
approvlng, the pl'oclamatlon of local emergency by the Dlrector of
Emergency ServIces; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code Sectlon 8630, the Clty
Councll has revlewed the need to contInue the local emergency,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The local emergency as proclalmed by the
Dlrector of Emergency Servlces on January 27, 1983, shall be
deemed to contlnue to eXIst In the Clty of Santa Monlca untll its
termlnatlon IS proclallued by the Clty Councll of the Clty of
Santa MonIca
SECTION 2. The local emergency as proclaImed by the
Dlrector of Emergency Servlces on March 1, 1983, shall be deemed
to contlnue to eXIst In the Clty of Santa Monlca untll its
termlnatlon IS proclalmed by the Clty CouncIl of the CIty of
Santa Monlca.

SECTION 3. The C1ty Clerk shall cert1fy to the adoptIon of
th1S Resolut1on, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
1n full force and effect.
