A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA PROCLAIMING THE
CONTINUED EXISTENCE OF THE LOCAL EMERGENCY
WHEREAS, MuniClpal Code Sectlon 2305 authorlzes the
Director of Emergency Services to proclaim the eXlstence or
threatened eXlstence of a local emergency when the Clty of Santa
Monlca lS affected or llkely to be affected by a public calamlty
and the City Council lS not ln session; and
WHEREAS, commenclng on January 27, 1983, conditlons of
extreme perll to the safety of persons and property have arlsen
within the Clty of Santa Monlca caused by storm, hlgh tides, and
heavy surfj and
WHEREAS, the Clty Councll was not ln seSSlon on January 27,
1983j and
WHEREAS, on January 27, 1983, the Director of Emergency
SerVlces of the Clty of Santa Monlca dld proclalm the existence
of a local emergency wlthln the City of Santa Monlca; and
WHEREAS, on February 1, 1983, the Clty Councll adopted
Resolutlon Number 6621 (CCS) , ratlfYlng, conflrming, and
approving, the proclamatlon of local emergency by the Dlrector of
Emergency SerVlces; and

WHEREAS, commencing on March 1, 1983, condltions of extreme
peril to the safety of persons and property have arisen wlthin
the City of Santa Monica caused by storm, hlgh tides, and heavy
surf; and
WHEREAS, the City Council was not in session at the time of
conditions glvlng rise to the emergency; and
WHEREAS, on March 1, 1983, the Director of Emergency
Services of the City of Santa Monica did proclalm the eXlstence
of a local emergency within the City of Santa Monica; and
WHEREAS, on March 8 ) 1983, the City Council adopted
Resolution Number 6642 (CCS) , ratifYing) conflrming) and
approving, the proclamation of local emergency by the Director of
Emergency Services; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code Section 8630, the City
Councll has reViewed the need to continue the local emergency,
NOW) THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The local emergency as proclaimed by the
Director of Emergency Servlces on January 27) 1983) sha 11 be
deemed to continue to eXist ln the City of Santa Monica until Its
termlnatlon is proclaimed by the City Council of the City of
Santa Monlca.
SECTION 2. The local emergency as proclaimed by the
Director of Emergency Servlces on March 1, 1983, sha 11 be deemed
to continue to exist In the City of Santa Monica until its
termlnatlon 15 proclalmed by the Clty Council of the City of
Santa Monica.

SECTION 3. The Clty Clerk shall certlfy to the adoptlon of
thlS Resolutlon, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
ln full force and effect.
