A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA PROCLAIMING THE
CONTINUED EXISTENCE OF THE LOCAL EMERGENCY
WHEREAS,
Municipal
Code Section 2305 authorizes the
DLrector of Emergency ServLces to proclaim the existence or
threatened eX1stence of a local emergency When the City of Santa
Monica is affected or likely to be affected by a publLC calamity
and the City Counc11 1S not in seSSLon~ and
WHEREAS, commencing on January 27, 1983, conditions of
extreme per1l to the safety of persons and property have arisen
within the C~ty of Santa Monica caused by storm, high tides, and
heavy surf~ and
WHEREAS, the C1ty CounC11 was not in session on January 27,
1983 ~ and
WHEREAS, on January 27, 1983, the Director of Emergency
Services of the City of Santa Monica did proclaim the existence
of a local emergency within the C1ty of Santa Monica; and
WHEREAS, on February 1, 1983, the City Council adopted
Resolution
(CCS), ratifying, confirming, and

approv1ng, the proclamat1on of local emergency by the Director of
Emergency Service5~ and

WHEREAS, commencing on March 1, 1983, conditions of extreme
peril to the safety of persons and property have arisen within
the City of Santa Mon~ca caused by storm, high tides, and heavy
surf; and
WHEREAS, the C~ty Counc~l was not in session at the time of
cond~t~ons giv~ng rise to the emergency; and
WHEREAS, on March 1, 1983, the D~rector of Emergency
Serv~ces of the City of Santa MonLca d~d proclaim the existence
of a local emergency with~n the City of Santa Monica; and
WHEREAS, on March 8, 1983, the C~ty Counc~l adopted
Resolution Number 6642 (CCS), ratlfYlng, confirming, and
approv~ng, the proclamatlon of local emergency by the Director of
Emergency Services; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code Section 8630, the City
Councll has revlewed the need to continue the local emergency,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The local emergency as proclaLmed by the
Dlrector of Emergency Services on January 27, 1983, shall be
deemed to contlnue to eXlst ln the City of Santa Monica until its
termlnatlon 1S proclalmed by the Clty Council of the City of
Santa Monlca.
SECTION 2. The local emergency as procla~med by the
Director of Emergency Services on March 1, 1983, shall be deemed
to continue to exist ~n the City of Santa Monica until ~ts
term~natian is proclalmed by the City Counc~l of the City of
Santa Monica.

SECTION 3. The C~ty Clerk shall cert~fy to the adoption of
this Resolut~on, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
in full force and effect.
