A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA PROCLAIMING THE
CONTINUED EXISTENCE OF THE LOCAL EMERGENCY
WHEREAS,

Code Section 2305 authorizes the
D~rector of Emergency Services to proclaim the existence or
threatened ex~stence of a local emergency when the City of Santa
Mon~ca ~s affected or likely to be affected by a pUblic calamity
and the C~ty Council is not in session; and
WHEREAS,
commencing on January 27, 1983,
conditions of
extreme peril to the safety of persons and property have arisen
w~th~n the City of Santa Monica caused by storm, high tides, and
heavy surf; and
WHEREAS, the C~ty Counc~l was not in session on January 27,
1983: and
WHEREAS,
on January 27, 1983, the Director of Emergency
Serv~ces of the C~ty of Santa Monlca dld proclaim the existence
of a local emergency w~thin the Clty of Santa Monica; and
WHEREAS,
on February 1.
1983, the City Council adopted

approving, the proclamation of local erner~ency by the Director of
Emergency Servlces: and

WHEREAS, commencing on March I, 1983, conditlons of extreme
peril to the safety of persons and property have arisen within
the Clty of Santa Monica caused by storm, high tides, and heavy
surf; and
w~EREAS, the Clty Councll was not in seSSlon at the time of
conditlons glvlng rise to the emergency: and
WHEREAS, on March I, 1983, the Dlrector of Emergency
Servlces of the City of Santa Monica did proclaim the existence
of a local emergency within the City of Santa Monica; and
WHEREAS, on March 8, 1983, the City Council adopted
Resolution Number 6642 (CCS), ratifying, confirming, and
apprOVlng, the proclamation of local emergency by the Director of
Emergency Servlces; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code Sectlon 8630, the Clty
Councll has revlewed the need to continue the local emergency,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The local emergency as proclalmed by the
Dlrector of Emergency SerVlces on January 27, 1983, shall be
deemed to contlnue to exist In the City of Santa Monica until its
termination lS proclalmed by the Clty Council of the City of
Santa Monlca.
SECTION 2. The local emergency as proclalrned by the
Director of Emergency Services on March 1, 1983, shall be deemed
to continue to eXlst In the Clty of Santa Monlca until its
termlnation is proclalmed by the City Council of the City of
Santa Monica.

SECTION 3. The Clty Clerk shall certlfy to the adoption of
this Resolutlon, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
In full force and effect.
