RESOLUTION NO. 6874(CCS)
(CITY COUNCIL SERIES)
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA MONICA SUPPORTING THE CONSTRUCTION OF
FOURTH STREET EAST BOUND FREEWAY ON-RAMP.
WHEREAS, there exists a need for add~t~onal eastbound
freeway access to In~erstate 10 west of L~ncoln Boulevard~ and
WHEREAS, C~ty staff and Caltrans have determined that
the best locat~on for addit~ona1 eastbound access ~s east of
Fourth Street and west of 1~nco1n Boulevard~ and
WHEREAS,
the
Angeles
Transportation
Los
County
Comm~ss~on
has recommended to the California Transportat~on
Commiss~on that the Fourth Street on-ramp proJect is of reg~onal
s~gnif~cance and should be funded ~n the State Transportation
Improvement Plan (STIP)~ and
WHEREAS, the proposed C~rculation Element of the C~ty's
General Plan recommends ~mproved freeway access at Fourth Steet,
and
WHEREAS, City staff ~ncluding the C~ty Manager, the
D~rector of General Serv~ces, the D~rector of Community and
Econom~c Development and the Clty Parklng and Traff~c Englneer
strongly recommend the constrUCt~On of a Fourth Street on-ramp:
and
WHEREAS, the Fourth Street on-ramp proJect is scheduled
for Federal Aid Interstate Fund~ng and State of Californ~a
matchlng funds w~th no local matchlng funds required from the Clty

of possible envlronmental studies and
mlscellaneous expendltures,
NOW, THEREFORE THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES HBREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SEC~ION 1. The Clty Councll supports the constuructlon
of a east-bound Freeway on-ramp at Fourth Street.
SECTION 2. That the C~ty Manager ~s hereby dlrected to
proceed wlth tne proJect by obtalning the necessary State and
Federal Fund~ng approvals and other necessary actlons, includlng
any necessary envlronmental review.
St:CTION 3.
That the Clty Clerk shall certlfy to the
adoptlon of thls resolution and thencforth and thereafter the same
shall be In full force and effect.
