A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA PROCLAIMING THE
CONTINUED EXISTENCE OF THE LOCAL EMERGENCY
WHEREAS, Municipal Code Section 2305 authorizes the
Director of Emergency Services to proclaim the existence or
threatened existence of a local emergency when the City of Santa
Monica is affected or l~kely to be affected by a public calamity
and the Clty Councll is not in session~ and
WHEREAS, commencing on January 27, 1983, cond~tions of
extreme per~1 to the safety of persons and property have arlsen
within the C~ty of Santa Monica caused by storm, high tides, and
heavy surf: and
WHEREAS, the City Council was not in seSSlon on January 27,
1983 ~ and
WHEREAS, on January 27, 1983, the D~rector of Emergency
Services of the C~ty of Santa Monlca did proclaim the existence
of a local emergency w~thin the C~ty of Santa Mon~ca~ and
WHEREAS, on February 1, 1983, the City Council adopted
Resolutlon Number 6621 {ccsJ, ratifying, conflrmlng, and
approvlng, the proclamat~on of local emergency by the Director of
Emergency Services: and

WHEREAS, commencing on March 1, 1983, conditions of extreme
peril to the safety of persons and property have arisen wi thl.n
the City of Santa Monica caused by storm, high tl.des, and heavy
surf; and
WHEREAS, the C~ty Council was not in session at the time of
cond~tions g~ving rise to the emergency~ and
WHEREAS, on March l, 1983, the Director of Emergency
Services of the C~ty of Santa tlonica did proclal.m the eXl.stence
of a local emergency within the C~ty of Santa Monica~ and
WHEREAS, on March 8, 1983, the Cl.ty Council adopted
Resolution Number 6642 (CCs), ratify~ng, confl.rming, and
approving, the proclamat~on of local emergency by the Dl.rector of
Emergency Serv~ces; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code Sectl.on 8630, the City
Councl.l has revl.ewed the need to continue the local emergency,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION l. The local emergency as proclaimed by the
D~rector of ErPergency Services on January 27, 1983, shall be
deemed to continue to exist in the C~ty of Santa Monica until its
termination ~s proclaimed by the C~ty Council of the City of
Santa MOnl.ca.
SECTION 2. The local emergency as proclaimed by the
Dl.rector of Emergency Servl.ces on March l, 1983, shall be deemed
to continue to exist in the city of Santa Monica until its
term~nation ~s proclal.med by the ci ty Council of the city of
Santa Monica.

SECTION 3. The city Clerk shall certify to the adoptlon of
thls Resolut~on, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
in full force and effect.
