A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA PROCLAIMING THE
CONTINUED EXISTENCE OF THE LOCAL EMERGENCY
WHEREAS,
Municipal
Code Sect~on 2305 author~zes the
DJ.rector of Emergency Services to proclaim the existence or
threatened existence of a local emergency when the City of Santa
Monica is affected or likely to be affected by a public calamity
and the City Council is not in session; and
WHEREAS, commencing on January 27, 1983, conditions of
extreme peril to the safety of persons and property have arisen
wlthin the City of Santa Monica caused by storm, high tides, and
heavy surf; and
WHEREAS, the City Council was not in session on January 27,
1983; and
WHEREAS, on January 27, 1983, the Director of Emergency
Services of the City of Santa Monica did procla~m the existence
of a local emergency within the City of Santa Monica; and
WHEREAS, on February 1, 1983, the C~ty Council adopted

approving, the proclamation of local emergency by the Director of
Emergency Services; and

WHEREAS, commencing on March I, 1983, conditions of extreme
peril to the safety of persons and property have arisen within
the City of Santa Monica caused by storm, high tides, and heavy
surf; and
WHEREAS, the C~ty Council was not in session at the t1me of
cond1tions g1ving rise to the emergency: and
WHEREAS, on March 1, 1983, the D1rector of Emergency
Services of the City of Santa Monica did proclaim the existence
of a local emergency within the City of Santa Monica: and
WHEREAS, on March 8, 1983, the City Council adopted
Resolution Number 6642 (CCS), ratifY1ng, confirming, and
approving, the proclamation of local emergency by the D1rector of
Emergency Serv1ces: and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code Section 8630, the City
Council has reviewed the need to continue the local emergency,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The local emergency as proclaimed by the
D1rector of Emergency Services on January 27, 1983, shall be
deemed to continue to exist ~n the C1ty of Santa Monica until its
term1nat1on ~s procla~med by the C~ty Council of the City of
Santa Mon1ca.
SECTION 2. The local emergency as proclaimed by the
Director of Emergency Services on March 1, 1983, shall be deemed
to continue to exist in the City of Santa Monica until its
termination is proclaimed by the City Council of the City of
Santa Monica.

SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
th~s Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
~n full force and effect.
