RESOLUTION NO. 6916(CCS)

A RESOLUTION OF' THE CITY COUNCIL OF' THE CITY
OF' SANTA MONICA F'INDING THE PUBLIC CONVENIENCE
AND NECESSITY REQUIRE THE CONSTRUCTION OF'
STREET LIGHTING AND ORDERING WORK ON VARIOUS
STREETS WITHIN THE CITY OF' SANTA MONICA, IN
ACCORDANCE WITH RESOLUTION OF' INTENTION 6898
(CITY COUNCIL SERIES)
WHEREAS, the CIty CounCIl of the CIty of Santa Monioa,on
the 14th day of August, 1984, passed and adopted its ResolutIon
of Intention, beIng ResolutIon No. 6898 (CCS), declaring its
IntentIon to order the work described thereIn to be done, WhICh
said ResolutIon of IntentIon duly and legally was publ1.shed as
required by law and notioe of sa1.d improvement has been g1.ven 1T
the manner requ1.red by law and all wr1.tten Objections ~~j
protests to the proposed work or the extent of the d1.strl~& to be
assessed were heard and cons1.dered by the City Council; a1d
WHEREAS, a publ1.c hearing has been held duly and
regularly pursuant to Resolut1.on 6898 (CCS) and the laws and
Constltut1.0n of the State of Ca11.fornia on the proposed
construct1.on of street 1lght1.ng and appurtenant work thereto, as
descrIbed 1n the ResolutIon of IntentIon No. 6898 (CCS), on the
following streets all withIn the C1.ty of Santa Mon1.ca:
1. Twenty-f1.fth Street between Pico and Pearl;
2. Strand between S1.xth and Lincoln Boulevard;
3. PrInceton between Santa Monioa Boulevard and
Colorado Avenue;
4. Stanford, Berkeley, and Franklin, all between SanLE
MonIca Boulevard and Colorado Avenue; and
5. CommercIal use propert1.es on Eucl1.d Street betweer
Broadway and Colorado Avenue.

WHEREAS, the City Council has determined to discontinue
lssessment proceedings for the following described streets within
':.he City of Santa Monica and described in the Resolution of
Intention:
Centinela between Santa Monica and Colorado Boulevards.
WHEREAS, said improvement has been oonsidered fully,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
~ONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The public interest and oonvenience require,
lnd the Clty Council of the City of Santa Monica hereby orders,
~he work described in said Resolution of Intention to be done on
~he following streets within the City of Santa Monica:
1. Twenty-fifth Street between Pico and Pearl;
2. Strand between Sixth and Lincoln Boulevard;
3. Princeton between Santa Monica Boulevard and
Colorado Avenue;
4. Stanford, Berkeley, and Franklin, all between Santa
Monica Boulevard and Colorado Avenue; and
5. Commercial use properti es on Euclid Street between
Broadway and Colorado Avenue.
Any and all of said protests and objections of every
Clnd and nature to the proposed work or to the extent of the
,llstrict to be assessed be and the same hereby are overruled and
jenied.
SECTION 2. The City Council hereby finds and determines
further that the "SpeCial Assessment Investigation, Limitatlon
lnd Majority Protest Act of 1931" shall not apply to the making
)f said improvement.

SECTION 3. The improvements shall be conducted under
~he Improvement Act of 1911, which is Division 1 of the Streets
i'1d H 19hways Code of the State of Cal i fornia, and the Street
>'Jpenntendent and the City Attorney presented to the said City
:0un011 the Resolution of Intention required by said Improvement
leL to ln1t1ate the proceedings for said improvement.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk hereby is directed to post a
~ot1ce for five days on or near the door of the Council Chambers
0f the C1ty Hall inviting sealed proposals or bids for doing the
..rork ordered and referring to the specifications on file and to
j)ublish a notice inviting such proposals for two days in the
C::vening Outlook, a newspaper published and circulated in said
':1ty.
SECTION 5. Reference hereby is made to said Resolution
)f Intention for a description of the work, the assessment
ilstrict, the bonds to be issued and for further particulars.
SECTION 6. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
,)f this Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall
oe in full force and effect.
