A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA WAIVING COMPETITIVE BIDDING PROCEDURES AND
AUTHORIZING DIRECT NEGOTIATION FOR PURCHASE OF
AVIATION FUELS
WHEREAS, effective September 20, 1984, OaS2S Petroleum
discontinued sell~ng aviation fuels at the Santa Monica Airport
because it has vacated premises leased from the C2ty, and
WHEREAS, in order to ensure adequate supplies of fuels for
Airport users, the City ~ntends to sell fuel; and
WHEREAS, it will take approximately ninety (90) days for
the C2ty to evaluate 2nterim operat2ng experience and to purchase
appropr2ate amounts of aviatloon fuels through competitive bidding
procedures,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION l.
Compet2tive b2dding for the purchase of
aviat20n fuels is hereby waived for a period of ninety days.
SECTION 2.
The purchase of aviation fuels for the next
ninety (90) days through negotiations on the epen market is
necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and
welfare.
SECTION 3.
The City Manager is hereby authorized to
execute a purchase order negotiated on the open market to
purchase neeessary av~ation fuels at the lowest reasonable prlce.
SECTION 4.
~e City Clerk shall certif~to the adoption of
thlS Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
in full force and effect.
