A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA PROCLAIMING THE
CONTINUED EXISTENCE OF THE LOCAL EMERGENCY
WHEREAS,
Municipal
Code Section 2305 authorizes the
Director of Emergency Services to proclalm the existence or
threatened existence of a local emergency when the City of Santa
Monica is affected or likely to be affected by a public calamity
and the City Council is not in seSSion; and
WHEREAS, commencing on January 27, 1963, conditions of
extreme peril to the safety of persons and property have arisen
within the City of Santa Monica caused by storm, high tides, and
heavy surf; and
WHEREAS, the City Council was not ln session on January 27,
1963; and
WHEREAS, on January 27, 1963, the Director of Emergency
Services of the City of Santa Monlca did proclaim the existence
of a local emergency within the Clty of Santa Monica; and
WHEREAS, on February 1, 1963, the City Council adopted

approving, the proclamation of local emergency by the Director of
Emergency Servlces; and

WHEREAS, commenclng on March 1, 1983, condltlons of extreme
perIl to the safety of persons and property have arisen within
the City of Santa Monica caused by storm, high tides, and heavy
surf; and
WHEREAS, the City Council was not ln session at the time of
conditIons giving rise to the emergency; and
WHEREAS, on March 1, 1983, the Director of Emergency
Services of the City of Santa Monica did proclaim the existence
of a local emergency within the Clty of Santa Monica; and
WHEREAS, on March 8, 1983, the CIty Council adopted

approvIng, the proclamation of local emergency by the Director of
Emergency Services; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code Section 8630, the City
CouncIl has revIewed the need to contInue the local emergency,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1.
The local emergency as proclaimed by the
DIrector of Emergency Services on January 27, 1983, shall be
deemed to continue to exist in the City of Santa Monlca until its
terminatIon is proclaImed by the City Councll of the City of
Santa Monica.
SECTION 2.
The local emergency as proclaimed by the
Director of Emergency Servlces on March 1, 1983, shall be deemed
to continue to exist in the City of Santa Monica until its
termlnation is proclaimed by the City CounCIl of the City of
Santa MonIca.

SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this Resolutlon, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
in full force and effect.
