A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA ADOPTING
POLICIES FOR NON-DISCRIMINATION ON
BASIS OF HANDICAP
WHEREAS, the Federal Office of Revenue Sharing mandates
requirements
under Section 504 of the
for
recipients
Rehabilitation Act of 1973; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary for the City of Santa Monica to
prepare a self-evaluation of all programs and activities to
determine accessibility and opportunity for disabled persons;
and
WHEREAS, specific non-discrimination policies must be
adopted by revenue sharing recipients and included in the
self-evaluation,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. No qualified disabled person shall, on the
basis of disability, be excluded from participation in, be
denied benefits or aids of, or otherWise be subJected to
discrimination under any program, activity or serVice operated
by or sponsored by the City of Santa Monica.

to purchase, rent, lease, o~ otherwise acquire or utilize any
facility which precludes participation by qualIfied disabled
persons.
SECTION 3. No qualified disabled person wIll be denied
the opportunity to participate as a member of any City of
Santa Monica planning or advisory board; such pe~sons will be
accommodated as needed.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same
shall be in full force and effect.
